So, there is a global culture in which greed has been claimed, not only not to be bad, but positively claimed to be good; are we surprised that it extends from the highest levels to the sink estates?

I think that these two women are from the same socio-economic class is quite interesting, and how many do expect their way paved for them.

And as an outsider, may I just add that you all seem so conflicted about the
whole class issue. It’s very much like the “bad childhood” thing here in the
States. The point is that there are two kinds of people: those who seek only
someone to blame for their bad behavior and those who were equally screwed
but lead productive, responsible lives, trying their very best to NOT hurt others as
they were hurt. Being one of the latter, I cannot muster much sympathy for the
former.
