South London venue the Sothwark Playhouse have announced their new spring season line-up which will follow on from a successful autumn season which saw the venue play host to a diverse range of shows including Moll Flanders, Unstated and Shakespeare’s R & J.

The new season will include the return of new writing theatre company Nabokov with further instalments of their Present Tense series in February and April. The series unites top talent from across the theatre industry to create a response to a particular topic in current affairs in just seven days. In previous years artists have tackled a wide range of news stories including the Brixton McDonalds shootings; the schism in the Anglican church over homosexuality, the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, and the Baby P case.

A FRESH appeal has been made to help find a missing person who vanished from the Dorking area 13 years ago.

Former Surrey Police officer Mark Williams-Thomas, who was the family liaison officer for Ruth’s case and now advises police on child protection issues, said the case was “extremely bizarre”. But the retired detective, who has worked on elements of the Madeleine McCann and Shannon Matthews cases, said he was sure Ruth was not abducted by a stranger.

The pair, inspired by the hunt for Madeleine McCann, hoped to cash in by “finding” Shannon and claiming a reward.
Old Mr Anorak says he gave Matthews £3,291, which Brown can make payable to the Happy Smile Ping-Pong Club, Phucket, Thailand.

This is too bad, there appears to have been a mass abduction - almost certainly by aliens since mass abductions are well known to be alien in origin. Single adbuctions on the other hand are almost always much more sinister in nature and often not abductions at all, particularly when there is no evidence. If I were an alien commander I would abduct a group of 9 I think and investigate them thoroughly with the latest cutting edge technology known only to aliens. Then instead of sending them back to earth where they would doubtless haul in lots of cash and gain lots of free publicity with their last photos and alien one-way monitors and alien language consisting largely of errs and ummms and phews, instead of that I woul dump them unceremoniously on a far distant planet, cold and inhospitable. They could always send radio messages or transcendental messages through a medium to set up a fund to help find them and bring them home. But not until after Christmas pleeaase…..
