Martha Raddatz: Let’s start with what just happened. And that is someone threw a shoe at you, whether it’s an Iraqi reporter?
President Bush: Yeah, I think it’s a reporter. At least that’s what they told me on the way out, that it’s a person who works in the Iraqi press, stands up and throws his shoe. And it was amusing. I mean, I’ve seen a lot of weird things during my presidency and this may rank up there as one of the weirdest.
On the other hand, I do remember when the president of China came to the South Lawn, and a member of the press corps started yelling. I think it was Falun Gong slogans at the Chinese president. So this happens and it’s a sign of a free society.
In a free society you throw shoes. In America you hurl insults in a foreign language so that the goons don’t know you’re saying.
Anorak can only marvel at how free Nazi Germany was as its peoples went one better then shoes and insults and lobbed bombs and tanks at everybody…

If this Muntader al-Zaidi jackass did this under the former dicatorship, the law was to have him executed. They (his bosses) tried to say that this was freedom of speech. Since when was verbalizing something the same as physically doing something? This was a clear cut case of attempted assault.
What gets me even more are those in teh USA that applauded this - morons, this is the president of YOUR nation. We may be angry with our own, and take it out in the polls - but you don’t applaude such actions against your own. I hate Obama - but he will be the president of my nation, and if someone did such a thing and I was present - sure as shit I would kick the crap out of the assailant.
So in the ends - fuck Muntader al-Zaidi and all of his mindless supporters.
