The Magnetosphere Is Leaking On Your Head
EARTH’S magnetosphere is leaking.
The magnetosphere is the region around our planet that shields us from the worst solar storms, says Space.com. It’s the big new scare:
The leaks are defying many of scientists’ previous ideas on how the interaction between Earth’s magnetosphere and solar wind occurs: The leaks are in an unexpected location, let in solar particles in faster than expected and the whole interaction works in a manner that is completely the opposite of what scientists had thought.
Scientists think? But isn’t it all maths and facts?

Yum. Wine with added science particles. It’s extra good for you. Or bad. Or both.
Oh, I’m so confused by your capricious ways, science. You’re like a mental but stunningly pretty girlfriend - exciting and puzzling and wonderful all at once. Until you punch me into shocked wakefulness at four in the morning for something that I did in a dream you just had. Before long you’ll be demanding to know what that woman I glanced at on a billboard once means to me, won’t you science. Then you’ll run off with a guerilla kiln-builder from Devon, but not before you’ve cut the crotch out of all of my trousers and spray-painted ‘billboard cheat’ in blood red foot-high letters on every wall of the flat. I hate you, science. I hate you. I miss how rough and dirty you could be in a cloud chamber though. Oh, yeah…I miss that.

That wasn’t anywhere near as unexpected a location as I had hoped for. I wanted it to be underneath the meat counter of a butcher’s shop in Nantwich. Science, eh? Lets you down more often than not.
