So it was the police who were to blame for the McCanns not releasing this video? Come off it, they wouldn’t even answer any of the questions put to them by the police, and left Portugal immediately after they were made suspects. Also, they released other photographs of Madelaine - supposedly to help identify her - so why on earth would they listen to police who they apparently have so little respect for? Their status as suspects was lifted ages ago - albeit only through lack of evidence. Why would the police prevent them from showing the video anyway? - it’s ridiculous.

It should have come out when she would at least look like the film. No this is just another one of the many Christmas appeals that we have to deal with. No cash has been asked for - yet - just soften us up witha bit of video and then ask us to bolster the ‘fighting fund’
If she is somewhere else, she’s probably better off. Can you imagine how these two would milk her return? TV companies would have to pay through the nose just for a picture.

There were reports that the UK Police advised the McCanns not to release such material at the time. At the time, they were in Portugal and one would presume that material such as this was back in the UK. I don’t think it would have been of much use beyond the first week of her disappearance.
