even now when we're watching the news and the camera zooms in on an abandoned soft toy or somesuch then one of us will say 'Damien woz ere'.
Not so long ago the press 'found' a wet and bedraggled teddy in the grounds by Apt 5A. Yep!  Damien! 

I've seen 'George' in other things but to me he will always be 'George'.   And Sally was allegedly a very real combination of a couple of big-ego newsreaders at that time. 
Brilliant characterisation.  They don't make em like that anymore.</description>

I'm sure that when Damien left 'Drop the Dead Donkey' he went on to freelance for the tabloids. 
It has to be him doing the rounds,  no-one else could do the 'baby shoe /  headless doll at the scene of the tragedy'  quite like him.</description>
