Madeleine McCann: Scottish Government’s Pink Teddy, Shannon Matthews And Liverpool’s Capital Year
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
BELFAST TELEGRAPH: “Gran’s Christmas present for Madeleine McCann unopened for second year”
The Irish grandmother of missing girl Madeleine McCann had a Christmas present ready for the five-year-old this year.
Don’t spoil the surprise…
For the second Christmas in a row, Eileen McCann left a large pink teddy bear on Madeleine’s bed, as she clings to hope that she will return home.
Oh, no! Not another pink teddy. Who buys two pink teddies for a little girl? They want nail polish and a Bratz styling head and Aquabeads…
Last year, she decided that a huge pink teddy with a white heart on it, a gift to her from the Scottish government, would be her present for Madeleine.
THE STAR: “Family torn between hope and despair for missing son”
Andrew Gosden was aged 14 when in September 2007 he left his family home in Doncaster and headed to London with just a couple of hundred pounds in his pocket.
A runaway?
Of course the anguish for Andrew’s parents has been played out against the backdrop of two much more high-profile cases of missing children - Madeleine McCann and Shannon Matthews.
The family feel some affiliation with Madeleine’s parents, who like them still await answers, but are troubled by the effect the Shannon case might have had on the British public.
“Charlotte was quite angry and upset, feeling that when so many people work hard to raise awareness of genuine needs, it is undone so readily by an unusual but highly publicised case such as this,” Kevin said.
“I wonder myself if it causes the public to make assumptions that there are dysfunctional families behind all missing cases. All I can assure you is that that is not the case.”
Although not everyone can be a doctor…
LIVERPOOL DAILY POST: “What a Capital year for the city”
Highlights of the Liverpool year:
MAY – Local politics became nailbiting with the Liberal Democrats in Liverpool holding onto control by a whisker when the independent councillor Nadia Stewart agreed to join their ranks. The party’s leader, Warren Bradley, saw off a challenge to his leadership later in the month.
It was the first anniversary of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. Gerry and Liverpudlian Kate McCann, attended Our Lady of the Annunciation, Childwall, Kate’s parents’ parish.
Early signs of the credit crunch came with news that repossessions were up by almost a third in Liverpool.
A missing child found amid the credit crunch and local politics. A capital year…

though, i would love to kick some arse with the pink paisley patterned wellington boots i have purchased.
January 4th, 2009 at 12:51 am
pink paisley are, i have discovered, much better that those sage green ones. they are not comfortable but then no shoes are really.
January 4th, 2009 at 12:44 am
Sam I’ve never found wellies comfortable except for gardening or tramping through snow - with multiple pairs of socks. Having said that I’ve never had cute pink paisley onew, mainly the utilitarian green versions. Maybe I’ll try some.
January 4th, 2009 at 12:26 am
montaillou, i bought myself a new pair of wellies for xmas, pink with paisley design, i think they’re everso smart really.

you could choose not to walk the hard pavements i suppose, but that’s not always practicable. unfortunately.
January 4th, 2009 at 12:02 am
Too true. Sam, but one has to protect ones tender little hooves on hard pavements!
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:40 pm
montaillou, there are no shoes that are as comfortable as no shoes

Happy New Year Chatelaine, Coco and Sam, good to see you again. I only drop in here occasionally and can’t really be bothered to post. I’ve been reading the roggy interviews on the other side.
On the question of bras and shoes - when I remarked to my daughter that I like a partiuclar brand of shoes because I find them comfortable, she laughed and said she couldn’t imagine buying shoes for being comfortable. To which I sadly replied “You will, believe me”.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:32 pm
Roger, over and out.
I wish you a very good night, Coco.

CHATELAINE!!! If only we could discuss this issue - It is a possibility that went through my mind on hearing about the doggies - And yes!!!! I read you - and know what you mean ………
Good Night and hope to see you both tomorrow XX
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:28 pm
Who wears a bra anyway? Haven’t we been liberated in the 70’s?

And who breaks in shoes anymore? They either fit or they don’t … right?
“Darlings” [credit Coco] have a good night and sleep well
One day… one day … we’ll know the truth …
Oops, forget to mention the silken sheets
Nite again
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:23 pm
coco, suggest you get rid of bra anyway, such a pain, just like some shoes really.
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:21 pm
Coco, what if ….
For one I do believe the dogs, knowing much about dogs, having dogs, knowing my dogs …
So, I am convinced there has been a corpse in apt. 5A
Yet, same dogs cannot tell which corpse
So what IF there was another corpse?
Imagine a “pre-corpse” being found at doing something horrible
And then being a corpse afterwards… hm
Disappear the corpse and the only witness, old enough to tell [yet still alive an being treated like a princess]…
Just an idea
Good night
not necessarily contradicting your “aliens”

Will you stop encouraging Eddie and Keela to bring home all those copies of ‘Forensics Scammers Quarterly’ please!!!
They are all over the hearth - and if I get caught with them in the house it will be like the day that we found out that despite the fact that only CERTAIN members of society are allowed to be in possession of a CEOPS manual - it was found that a certain couple had one hanging around the apartment ………..

Who, in the UK,dares to do something for Madeleine?
Official complain to the police.
……………………………………………………..
Thanks Sam!
- As you no - I am hardly popular - so thanks for that X
Maravilha! Happy New Year to you if you come back. Getting official complaints through to the police is really, really tricky - as a couple of the Clan’s mates who once holidayed with them in Spain will tell you!
I beieve it took months for the LP to deal with the information they received..
Not to worry - there is a lovely lady Judge taking care of things for The Establishment. So errrrrrr …….. we should be OK - MM’s best interests will be close to heart - I am absolutely sure of it.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:58 pm
Coco, you’re one of the very few reasons to check in here again
That and a kind of nostalgia, as this [Anorak] was the very first time of my [long] life to be on a forum or a blog [still don't know the real difference between the two...]. And, yes, I agree: the dark site [only lurking there] is a very inspirational site to turn all sides up and down and realising every time and again that - whatever - theory, POV, different look or idea: it just doesn’t count up!
Happy New Year
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:58 pm
Sam! Happy New Year! Too cold to drag myself to the neighbours for a drink so I have just been catching up on emails and having a lurk on here. Has everybody been thrown in prison for daring to say something about the Clan or what???
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:52 pm
hi coco, good to see you again, it’s been so dead.
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:21 pm
Or even a Panamanian canal? I am full of Tia Maria now thanks to Watcher making me celebrate our agreeableness!
January 3rd, 2009 at 9:17 pm
MODERATOR! Please help! I cannot breathe again! Am I connected to a Chinese web-site? Can we not be re-routed through a Panamian canal somewhere? I will provide the wood for the boat - and we can have a floating hotel with a running buffet?
January 3rd, 2009 at 8:34 pm
I am being moderated again ………
I can’t breathe. I feel trapped ……… I feel stunted. Is this bloody site being run by the Chinese or what?
I will have to undo my bra ……..

Coco I agree with you about people neglecting their animals and their children. That’s the only damn thing I have ever agreed with you about, so that’s cause for a small celebration.
…………………………………………………………………….
Merci beaucoup Madame! I ran for the Tia Maria bottle as soon as I saw this - albeit but half an hour ago. - But surely we have never engaged in conflict on anything else but neglect???
I am sure we have never quarrelled about invading Iran or Indonesia - and I am always agreeable with everybody anyway - Do I not always agree that there was an abductor of MM? - Although I am broad-minded enough to believe that it was Aliens.
There have been nights when I have not slept because of my great fear of sending somebody to prison for a crime they did not commit …….
Amaral’s film will show us all that the Tapastwats time-line does not add up. And then ………. I hope they will talk about the possibility of Alien abduction.
Oh - and the other web-site 3As - that is referred to as being dark - is in fact the most informative site with the most informed people.
Read The Files! now! …… My goodness - they would make a jolly good book. More twists and turns than the whole works of Agatha Christie! Shakespeare was here with Princess Diana last night - and they said the same thing! …… And they know all about conspiracies and farces .

…….and as to “brought to book” and “the time is approaching”
….why not equip yourself with a sandwich board and go and do some preaching outside your local £ shop!

Morning all on this nice crisp winters morn.
Suzi…. LP is quite correct. Anorak is a much nicer place to be.
Karen, I enjoy the occasional sortie to the dark side to have a bit of a stir. It is so easy… and no I’m not telling anyone my name there.
I don’t go there too often, it’s so Groundhog Day. My current distraction is Minesweeper….
