Madeleine McCann: Snatched, Lowe Humour And More Flick Cox
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
Gerry MCann returned to Portugal. Kate Mcann did not go with him. Here’s the story of the story that keeps on going:
DAILY MIRROR: “Madeleine mum can’t face return”
Heartbroken Kate McCann was too upset to go back to Portugal where her beloved Madeleine was snatched.
A breakthrough. She didn’t wander off. Cancel the Channel 4 investigation! Madeleine McCann is another Diana to milk like a surrogate cow.
The Mirror has proof?
Kate, 40, stayed at home in Rothley, Leics, looking after the couple’s twins. Maddy was nearly four when she went missing from an apartment in Praia da Luz in May 2007.
Any other facts?
No. Of course, saying she was “snatched” is unlikely to trigger a libel writ issued by a man arguing the point that she wandered into his car.
CHESTER STANDARD: “Chester Conservative councillor expelled after Madeleine McCann fancy dress comment”
Young Tory Matthew Lewis dressed up as Madeleine McCann for larks.
Richard Lowe has been booted out of the Conservative Party following a comment he made on the Facebook website.
What did he say?
Cllr Lowe, at the time CF North West regional co-ordinator, replied, in a reference to the popular historical comedy series Blackadder, starring Rowan Atkinson: “Is this a cunning (Baldrick style) plan to obtain the reward money? Room for one more?”
A third CF colleague, Flick Cox, said she could not wait to see the pictures taken at the party.
Flick. Cox. No, no joke here. Move on.
Cllr Lowe formed part of the successful Conservative team who enjoyed a landslide victory in the first elections for CWAC but two of the three Tories who won are now sitting as Independents.
Only Cllr Tom Parry remains on the controlling group’s benches.
Cllr Lowe now sits as an Independent – that’s him in the blonde wig and eye patch…

Yes, Julia.
We are aware that Lindy Chamberlain was freed from prison; many keys have been pressed on the topic on the long and winding road of Anorak’s coverage…

The Chamberlain case might have similarities to the Mccann case.
But are you aware that Lindy Chamberlain was found to be innocent after being in jail for 3 years????

13 Grande Finale
“They never said “I don’t know !” they always had an answer.
They weren’t there, so why did they claim to know what happened ? just 30 minutes after raising the alarm.
I believe they know what happened………but I don’t believe it was when and how they claim”
That for me is also one of the persuasive arguments in this saga. Victims of crime often have no real idea about what happened. It all has to be pieced together painstakingly by the investigator.
But they knew immediately. KM announced it as fact and not one of the tapas 7/9, GM or anyone else including the grandmother, thought to say, “Hang on, let’s just check to make sure she hasn’t wandered off by herself or hidden in a cupboard.”
In contrast the general public DID take this point, and searched throughout the night, whilst the Tapas lot went to bed and told others outside the group that there was nothing that could be done.
KM said in an interview in the public domain that there was clear evidence which made it obvious that MM had been abducted, but she would not tell the interviewer what it was, and now we have seen her statement it is obvious she did not tell the PJ at the time either.
No one from the press seems to have the balls to ask her now what that evidence was. It might be quite important !
The CM statement about innocent explanations for anything the PJ might or might not have is just absurd. If they told him to say this then they are very stupid. If he said it on his own initiative then he is very stupid.
Fascinating parallels with the Chamberlain case, (docudrama last night) where again the parents did not search the area, at all, ever. They wandered about telling anyone who would listen about the dingo. In the film this fact was presented as a clinching argument in the first court hearing for their guilt.

Maddie Cop Tries To Flog Book In Uk
Jan 18 2009
A PORTUGUESE detective’s book claiming Madeleine McCann died while in her parents’ care could go on sale in the UK.
Goncalo Amaral’s The Truth About A Lie claims parents Gerry and Kate then disposed of their three-year-old daughter’s body in the Algarve.
This was dismissed by Portuguese authorities and Amaral, 49, was kicked off the case after five months in charge.
The book was a best seller in Portugal and Spain. Publisher Mario Sena Lopes said: “We have translated the book into English and are in discussions with publishers.”
Clarence Mitchell, for the McCanns, said: “If the book is published here, they should be aware British laws are different.”

Totje
I’d laugh anyway - it’s directed at Tony B. not MM.
January 18th, 2009 at 12:27 am
I’ve always thought the timeline was balls - possibly to avoid admitting that they didn’t check every 20 mins (although I think it’s an established fact that MM wasn’t directly seen for an hour - isn’t it?).
Also they tried to avoid saying the door was unlocked and said the window had been jemmied open - IMO to save their reputations.
And because of that I object to them being turned into Saints Kate and Gerry - the world’s most responsible/unlucky parents turned media sensations.
And it’s so weird that Gerry said on the Panorama documentary that he thought it was strange the twins didn’t wake up and maybe they were drugged… Unless he’s the kind of person that naturally talks rubbish (and I personally think he is) that needs an explanation.
I wonder if it’ll inspire a discipline like Ripperology?

I think Bennet needs Yampster to do the countdown on his ‘60 reasons’.
If it wasn’t such a sad story and if there wasn’t still a child missing I would be laughing until my bones and stomach hurt

Mistake?
If they’d been chavs leaving 3 under 5s alone in an unlocked apartment while out on the lash would’ve seen them vilified in the press - and that’s a fact.
It is… it is!!!
January 17th, 2009 at 1:38 am
Too much hogwash already…. Surely anyone with any common sense would know this child is not alive. … what is so different from Madeliene McCann and any other missing child…
Bottom line. They left three children under the age of four in an apatment, in a foreign country alone which in itself is a crime. Babysitting was available. These were doctors who should be aware of the dangers that young children could encounter i.e. choking to death, falling over or leaving the apartment and wandering off.

But arriving to stay overnight to meet his lawyer???
January 17th, 2009 at 12:07 am
Any Briton with problems abroad would be assisted by officials from the British Embassy, one of the reasons for the Embassy or Consulate being there. They cover everything from a death to a lost wallet.
Metedo 3 are Spanish, not Portuguese

Actually, I don”t think Gerry”s visit was to ask the PJ to re-open the case. He would have met with them personally. He was met by British Officials, I presume
from the Embassy and met with his Portugese Lawyer.
I suggest he either wants to put a stop to Amaral”s publishing his book in the
U.K., or Metodo 3 are somehow involved……..remember they were threatening to
sue the British Press and said they did not receive the £50,000 per month
claimed. This was reported a few months ago by ABCes .
Why was Gerry met by british officials? What warrants that?

The Mccanns certainly made a horrible mistake that night, I hope they find her soon or atleast find out what happened to her.

Sally, you are joking, aren’t you? You trying to let those posters think it is all wine and roses over here re taking care of our children?
Sally, I follow the news very closely daily both here and in the UK - I read 3 newspapers daily from the UK not counting Anorak. I have television on at home on local news channel starting at 6 a.m. and then switch around 9 a.m. to worldwide news. I also read 3 papers from here plus follow updates of news stories on the internet. One could never begin to throw stones at the UK re taking care of their children when one reads and hears daily the outrageous murders that just took place over the night of children (babies, youths, teens). What about the stories we hear frequently of children burning up in apartment or house fires because an adult wasn’t home ‘at that moment’? What about the not infrequent stories in the news about a parent in the middle of a nasty divorce suit kills his or her children so the spouse can’t have them? I will qualify that by saying unfortunately fathers seem to be inclined to take that route to what one would think ‘punish’ the wife for getting the children. In the past year alone in the DC area we have had 1 mother found with the bodies of her dead 4 daughters kept in her home; a mother a couple of months ago in MD found with the bodies of her two daughters in the freezer - been moving them around with her with their bodies in the freezer for about a year; the mother here this week daughter was missing said someone took her - found her body in the creek 3 days later - turns out the mother killed her! What about the young mother last year who cooked her wee baby in the microwave because she got mad at her boyfriend - the baby’s father? Also, too numerous to list all the stories of children being killed by their mothers’ boyfriends who babysat for them while they went to work.
The McCanns made a horrible mistake out of utter stupidity and have paid a dear price. Our stories over here are not horrible mistakes - they are horrible but deliberate in most caes..

So, the mum or dad haven’t confessed yet, eh. Pity. How long can this go on. As I see it, since I live in these United States, in England, it’s ok to go out of country, leave your kids to fend for themselves, no matter what age, maybe even infants, under age 1 or so, stuff yourself with Tapas and Alcohol and claim no responsibility no matter what harm comes to them. Amazing, quite odd.

Morning Chenier!
How are you? Happy new year to you and yours!

One of the very few, I grant you.
Though now that Channel 4 is on the case we can expect rapid progress on the possible links between the disappearance and the curious matter of methane on Mars…
