
Irony Update: BBC TV Cash Tipster Files For Bankruptcy
LORNE Spicer, the presenter of money saving TV show Cash in the Attic, has filed for bankruptcy.
So says The Sun.
Spicer has also worked on Beat the Bailiff and Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is.
On the BBC website, Spicer Tips:
- Make a budget and stick to it. Putting the numbers down on paper will show you just where all the money is going. Set a limit on how much you are going to spend and stick to it.
- Take a calculator with you to the supermarket, or use the one on your mobile phone. Figuring out the total as you shop will help ensure that you stick to your budget.In the kitchen
- Turn off lights in empty rooms.

Given the banks have had rather a problem recently, perhaps bankruptcy is the new way to handle your finances, and shouldn’t the Chancellor be making some soothing noises to Lorne just about now?

I have sympathy for Lorne Spicer. (local girl)
I could make a programme on looking after your finances, I know it all, I’ve had the good and the bad times and I’ve learnt. Do I do it the right way with the benefit of experience? not a chance! Do as I say, not as I do.
It’s like dieting…. I could calorie count for England but……..

ah an investment then…
I have definitions - a bargain is something I get if it costs under £100,and anything over is an investment, unless its fuel for the car or a service bill for the car or the annual rates all of which are daylight robbery.
Unless of course its shoes and handbags when amnesia kicks in very swiftly…

Looks like it, June, though presumably her next show will be all about how to make the best of bankruptcy…
At any rate, having fixed the broadband and the mobile phone, both of which decided that they didn’t like January, I can now step into the breach and provide money saving hints to Anorak.
Selfridges has some excellent reductions on pillowcases. Admittedly, since the pillowcases in question originally cost £160 each they are still not exactly what could be called cheap but you will save lots of money if you buy them….
