I think the ‘pure evil’ remark was carefully thought out, though indisputably silly; the police were getting their retaliation in first, expecting nasty questions to be asked about why they had been duped by a woman with an iq of 74. Come to think of it, it worked…

Agree with both your points. Though I would like to see them actually serve 8.
The ‘pure evil” remark was very silly and badly thought out.
The whole point is how normal and boring this sort of pond-life really is. People of seriously low intelligence, without even the wit to realise how stupid they are, think they can get away with cunning and devious plans.
Sadly there are simply not enough good investigators to stop them all, and some do get away with it.

If you add up everything she did - fraud, wasting police time and resources, child cruelty, false imprisonment & all of it premeditated - 8 years is probably about right.

I just wish the coppers would keep their ‘… it’s the worst case I’ve ever dealt with in 20 years on the force…pure evil….’ P.R. crap to themselves. It’s incitement.

Chenier, i agree with you that there are more violent crimes that go unpunished or seem more leanient however what you mustn’t forget is that this crime involves a child who has to live with the consequencies of her mothers & uncles actions for the rest of her life and i for one think its pretty unforgivable

what is more unfair is that some (more serious) crimes have lesser sentences perhaps.

This is not a lenient sentence; it’s a downright unfair sentence when you think of the many people who receive far shorter sentences for far more violent crimes. This is a ‘lets make scapegoat’ sentence, and it’s driven by the tabloids…

8 years, Shannon is scarred for life - well, that is not enough time IN. Both will be out on appeal, just you see, and will do the usual 2 years before parole!! And, they will both come out much the wiser and have lots of contacts to follow up after their release! The public should appeal the lenient sentence!
