Madeleine McCann Spotted In Center Parcs, Wiltshire
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
This is Wiltshire: “Center Parcs boosts security after Madeleine case”
Wiltshire? Whereabouts in Portugal is that, then?
HIGH-TECH number plate recognition systems have been installed in a holiday village near Warminster to help improve security in the wake of the Madeleine McCann abduction case…
Andy De’Ath, general manager of the 400-acre holiday park, said: “We sat round a table a long, long time ago when it happened (the Madeline McCann case) and thought out what measures we can put in place for our guests to minimise the chance of that ever happening here.”
1. Ban children. 2. Ban adults…
Celebrity chef Aldo Zilli will be at the resort this weekend to launch his own cafe/restaurant in the Romanesque-style Aqua Sana Spa facility.
3. More chefs.
Madeleine McCann is now a press release, a marketing tool. But why did Centre Parcs take so long – Our aMddy vanished nearly two eyars ago? And why the **** isn’t it called Centre Parks?!

Regarding the numberplates comment, its actually one of the easiest things you can do getting false plates made up. I ordered a plate from the net a couple of days ago to replace one that got split from a big stone impact. It cost £12 delivered and can be made to look 100% legal if the form is filled in cleverly. Which really begs the question, how much use is ANPR in stopping organised criminal activities.?? If i were to go and rob a Postoffice in a town center, i think the 1st thing id do would be to fit cloned plates to my ‘getaway car’. So CenterparCks, how much use is your expensive (privacy invading, CCTV state) ANPmyRse system going to be in stopping little kiddies and my expensive bike from being nabbed?!!?

I’m fed up of all these knee jerk reactions. Only the other day I was thrown out of my local swimming pool because the “s” has worn off my speedos.
Only rich (naive?) people can afford centerparc holidays, so probably not a bad idea. And certainly good publicity. Spot on again Anorak.

A mother in Australia has been charged for leaving her child unattended in a car, mind you it was very hot inside, while she went into a shop. It is an offence to leave a child under the age of 12 unsupervised.

There was a bit of a panic on the estate where I live. On Sunday, I was told that an old man had asked two of my daughter’s friends (both boys) if he could film them talking about what they would like in a new playground. I since found that two ladies had called round to one of the boy’s parents to say an old man was videoing them.
I was a bit shocked at first but then I remembered. I’d recently read an article about a lottery grant awarded to the Friends of my local park and they were planning to re-vamp the playground. The chief Friend is an old councillor and would easily fit the description of “old man” - he must be about eighty.
I e-mailed the article to one of the parents and it turns out it was the same guy. Poor old bloke was full of good intention for the local kids but, sadly, a bit naive for this day and age.
Maybe Center Parcs would be better employing some of my neighbours.

Can’t have a parc without a peado..

What a good idea by Mr Anorak: a brand of holiday resorts called ” PaedoParcs”. At least parents staying can’t claim false delusions of naivety for their children. On second thoughts, perhaps not such a great marketing ploy….

June - if you want to see a dog riding a bike, head for Blackpool when the weather warms up a bit….

To get number plates made up you need registration docs and two forms of identification and address. One of them photographic. The number plates have to be marked with the name and address of the shop that sold them.
Just buy a phillips screwdriver and nip down to the airport carpark like I do.

I think the problem at Center Parcs is that it is all geared around bikes and activity. There are children of all ages out on bikes everywhere from dawn to dusk, many of them unaccompanied and just out cycling around or heading to/from the dome where the pool is.
Bit how it used to be like everywhere not too many years ago!
February 3rd, 2009 at 1:21 pm
Exactly, so perhaps just advising people of the dangers of leaving children alone should be enough - just basic common sense
February 3rd, 2009 at 1:19 pm
If you go on holiday to enjoy and spend time with your children and you don’t leave them alone while you go out on the razz, you don’t have much to be scared of IMO.
February 3rd, 2009 at 1:14 pm
CenterParcs is great IMO ( especially for families with young children) and it’s sad they feel they have to respond to this current atmosphere of heightened fear.

February 3rd, 2009 at 1:01 pm
what about noisy canines? mind you they can’t ride bikes
February 3rd, 2009 at 12:59 pm
i wouldn’t go there anyway. noisy autiistics not appriecated there.
February 3rd, 2009 at 12:55 pm
All I know is that it actually costs a fortune to holiday there and then
they take your car away from you and give you a bike!
February 3rd, 2009 at 12:55 pm
i think it costs about 15 pounds to get a set of number plates made up, so i’m not sure about the benefits of this hi tech number recognition system.
February 3rd, 2009 at 12:38 pm
OK, he’s called Death and he runs a holiday park.
No-one with any sense would go there, with or without high-tech number plate recognition systems …
