Liverpool fans taunt Everton rivals… with socks

by | 5th, February 2009

DURING last night’s 1-0 defeat to Everton in the FA Cup, some Liverpool fans threw socks onto the pitch. Well, it’s safer than coins or cigarette lighters.

The bizarre missiles were not chucked as a form of protest. Instead, they were a witty taunt aimed at Everton “sock robbers”, or criminal-minded Kirkby residents – Kirkby is the proposed location of Everton’s new stadium – who steal socks from clothes lines and then put them over their hands, so as not to leave fingerprints on the stuff they steal – do they wear socks on their hands when they steal socks though?
