Obama The New York Monkey In Bush’s Image

by | 19th, February 2009

BARACK Obama is a dead monkey, a dead monkey puppet. No, he’s not Curious George. Barack Obama is the crazed monkey who signed off the US stimulus package.

The Guardian sees the picture of the monkey being killed, shot by two white police officers, an event depictured by the main editorial cartoon in the New York Post.

The paper says it..

“…seemed like just another lurid reference to the story that the tabloid had been covering with breathless abandon for two days running – the shooting by Connecticut police on Monday of a pet chimpanzee that viciously attacked his owner’s friend.”

But:

But the caption cast the cartoon in a more sinister light. “They’ll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill,” it read, prompting accusations that the Post was peddling a longstanding racist slur by portraying president Barack Obama, who signed the bill into law yesterday, as an ape.

The President of the US as an ape? That is outrageous and disgusting. The Guardian is right to highlight this vileness. Fight fire with fire. Get Steve Bell, the paper’s cartoonist on it. Lampoon the slur. Make a monkey of it, so to speak.

Al Sharpton, the Baptist minister and civil rights activist, called the cartoon “troubling at best, given the historic racist attacks [on] African-Americans as being synonymous with monkeys”.

George Bush was not an African American, for the record. Sge proof here, here, here, here, here and here. But he was shot. Was he crazy, or mentally ill?

Sharpton continues to look at the Obama Death Cult:

“Being that the stimulus bill has been the first legislative victory of President Barack Obama … and has become synonymous with him, it is not a reach to wonder: are they inferring that a monkey wrote the last bill?… The Post should at best clarify what point they were trying to make, or in fact reprimand their cartoonist.”

A monkey can only be black. White monkeys should campaign.

David Paterson, the governor of New York state, told a local television station that it was “very important for the New York Post to explain what the cartoon was intended to portray”.

Enough with the explaining. Old Mr Anorak says the monkey’s blackness apes the Islamic flag and is an affront to Islam. If we want to protest, let’s do it in style. Does the NY Post have an embassy? It’s part of the Murdoch empire. To Wapping!

Says the newspaper’s editor-in-chief, Col Allen:

“The cartoon is a clear parody of a current news event, to wit the shooting of a violent chimpanzee in Connecticut. It broadly mocks Washington’s efforts to revive the economy. Again, Al Sharpton reveals himself as nothing more than a publicity opportunist.”

The Post’s cartoonist Sean Delonas is not saying anything yet, and was last seen shopping for bananas…
