LIVERPOOL’S Fat Spanish Waiter (aka Rafa Benitez) has got his way at last. The club’s pesky chief executive, Rick Parry, is standing down at the end of the season, leaving Rafa totally free to manage every aspect of what happens on the pitch - that is his job, after all. Cue evil laugh by Rafa. Muah ha ha ha etc.
Benitez has steadfastly refused to sign a new deal to keep him at Anfield, mostly because he was sulking that Parry was involved in transfer dealings, and craved the sort of total control that only a Gillette blade can offer.
In the wake of Liverpool’s excellent 1-0 win at Real Madrid on Wednesday, Rafa presumably had the extra bargaining power to tell Liverpool’s owners “It’s me or Parry, choose now…”
Surely most Liverpool fans would choose Benitez over Parry anyway?
