
The Poetry Of Global Warming, Abu Dhabi Chapter (Video)
GLOBAL warming is set to strike in May, or possibly June. By the August Bank Holiday it should be replaced by sudden global cooling, moving on into February. In Abu Dhabi it’s hot. The poets have noticed:
The deterioration of poetry is just as dangerous a phenomenon as global warming, a researcher claimed on the fourth day of the Dubai International Poetry Festival (DIPF) on Saturday. Dr Mohammad Weld Abdi, a cultural consultant based in Abu Dhabi, said poetry was a “basic pillar of civilisation and an expressive device that allows us to discover humanity and the meaning of brotherhood”.

as I marvel at poetry’s effect..
and the state of the world it has wrecked;
should it be an ovation or deterioration,
your efforts we all should respect!

Others fear nuclear night
But it’s doggerel like this that’ll finish us off
Where the scansion be not what it might
