Very informative Dr. I seem to remember you mentioning you’re a scouser, always handy to have one on board to explain the vagaries of the penal system

That’s why lifers are given D category status or allowed to go on town visits towards the end of their sentences, to get them used to the sheer pace of life again. But I guess he was just “chucked out” last week, without any help. Which can’t be helped, given the circumstances. I believe he was discharged from HMP Albany… the pace of nearby Newport on the Isle of Wight is fairly slow in comparison to London and town visits wouldn’t have helped much!

The man is a serial liar, he originally claimed he did snuff out the barmaid.
But you are correct, why don’t the family take him home and look after him ? (to make amends for the last time he was taken home and looked after, some 27 years ago).

it’s a real shame - he is obviously not capable of looking after himself; he doesn’t look well for a start and 27 years behind bars means he’s not used to the dire traffic and general “attitude” which abounds these days…. why isn’t he with his family instead of in a hostel…?
