it's not normal to hide your identity in such a complete way - everyone should have to obey the law first and their religion should come very much second....

When in Rome..... Why the hell is it that whenever we go to Muslim countries (apart from as "liberators"!) we have to bend over backwards to comply with the laws of the land, but the same is never reciprocated in this country.

This one's on my territory and here's the original article

http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/blackburn/4256782.Mum_banned_from_Blackburn_school_event_for_wearing_veil/

A lot of the comments sum up what people think around these here parts.

My opinions are:

1. For security reasons at a school event, people should be easily identifiable so the staff know they are supposed to be there. Common sense in my book.
2. The full veil isn't a religious requirement - it's a statement saying "I want nothing at all to do with you. Talk to the veil cos the face ain't listening". Not very friendly towards the other parents is it? Some of these being parents of her son's classmates.
3. If one is so devout as to wear the veil in the name of Islam, why send your child to a Roman Catholic school? There are plenty of Islam schools in Blackburn.

Please, unless you live near Blackburn, don't try the old PC crap with me. Live around here for a while and then see what you think.
