Amazon Blames A Ham Fist For Purge On Gay And Lesbian Books
AMAZON, the online bookseller, says a “ham-fisted” error is behind the disappearance of gay authors from its best-seller lists.
Thanks to the sticky ham fist - aka the “bacon shake” - gay books like Brokeback Mountain by Annie Proulx, Lesbian Sixth Form and The New Testament were removed from best-seller lists.
Says Amazon, in Amazonian tones, it was an “embarrassing and ham-fisted cataloguing error.”
The books were classified as “adult”.
Old Mr Anorak is relieved. His collection of lesbian and gay ‘How Do’ Guides, including where to go to meet lesbians and gays, has helped many single male travellers avoid embarrassing situations by accidentally ending up in gay bars, exchanging too many or too few kisses when greeting others overseas and, in general, being better informed and prepared for depraved, godless, dirty sex.
Says Gore Vidal:
“Why don’t they just burn the books? They’d be better off and it’s very visual on television.”
We will be burning all Mr Vidal’s books tonight. We urge you do the same…
