Wolfram Alpha Is Bigger Than Google
WOLFRAM Alpha is the creation of British-born physicist Dr Stephen Wolfram.
Says he of his technology at a demonstration at Harvard University’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society:
“Our goal is to make expert knowledge accessible to anyone, anywhere, anytime.”
Wolfram Alpha answers internet users’ questions by looking at dat form live feeds. It can work out data , rather than taking data from big databases.
Says he:
“Like interacting with an expert, it will understand what you’re talking about, do the computation, and then present you with the results.”
And answers are in “natual langauge” - the user can just say what they want with no need for esoteric terms.
Questiosn asked in simple terms; questison answered in simple terms. It aims to be instinctive.
Says Wolfram:
“We thought there would be a huge amount of ambiguity in search terms, but it turns out not to be the case.”
Indeed, you’d marvel at how many ways people can search for “porn”…
