Madeleine McCann Kidnapped By A “Lucky Guy”

madeleine-mccann-aged-6NEWS is that Madeleine McCann’s appearance on the Oprah Winffey Show will be broadcast in the UK.

Oprah is global

* Kate and Gerry McCann’s interview on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” is to be screened in the UK, a day after airing in America, NBC Universal Global Networks announced today.

Diva TV, which transmits “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in the UK, will broadcast the McCann’s first US interview on Tuesday 5th May at 8pm. Viewers will see a digitally created photo that shows how Madeleine might look today, aged six.

Now, that’s entertainment… Buy a satelite dish. Sign up.

The McCanns will talk to Oprah about the two year hunt for their missing daughter, whilst the show’s cameras go inside their home, spending the day with them and their 4-year-old twins, Sean and Amelie.

“The more people able to see Madeleine’s image as she would look now the better,” said Jon Farrar, Programming Director for NBC Universal Global Networks (UK), which owns Diva TV.

Carol Midgely (Times):

Chicken-hearted, craven, faceless cowards. Yes, I’m talking about you! – Few beasts are more merciless than the great British public when snarling behind their anonymity

British spite – it’s a cultural nuance:

If you doubt it think back to when Kate McCann was questioned by police over Madeleine’s disappearance. The invective disgorged upon her and her husband via internet comment sites surely bottomed the pit of human vileness. Kate McCann was capable of great evil because she had the temerity to “change her earrings”. The couple’s local newspaper website had to shut, so vicious were some remarks.

Though some newspapers deported themselves badly over that story (for which they were censured), it was the public that raised the bar on abominable behaviour. This weekend marks the second anniversary of Madeleine’s vanishing and the witch-burners will no doubt surface again – cowering behind their pen-names. The coward, Goethe said, threatens when he is safe.

The web of sin

* Online chatroom discussions about underage sex were “depraved” and would make decent people “physically sick”, a court heard yesterday.

Prosecutor Dorothy Bain QC referred to the material as she summed up the evidence against one of eight men accused of possessing explicit images.

The court heard one of the accused men had described the person who abducted Madeleine McCann as a “lucky guy”.

Well, at least some people on the web aren’t still pointing the finger at the parents… But if that counts for progress, it paints a sick and depressing picture of human life…

Madeleine McCann is missing – still missing.  There is no proof of a crime nor sign of a suspect…

Two years of specualtion and a voracious media.
