Madeleine McCann: Kate McCann’s Coma Nightmare
MADELEINE McCann Watch: In which Kate McCann cries for Oprah’s fans…
TWO years of Madeleine McCann news and the Daily Mirror delivers this front-page headline:
“I wish I was in a coma”
This is “Sobbing Kate” McCann. This is “Haunted Kate McCann”.
We are here to watch Kate McCann’s pain. We are watching the parents and gawping at their grief. This is every parent’s worst nightmare on prime-time telly.
Asked by Oprah if she has ever thought of giving up, she said: “I think even if you wanted that - and there are days where you just want to get under the duvet or just want to be in a coma until it’s over just to relieve the pain - you can’t.
“I don’t think we’ll ever get a day where we feel we’ve done everything. I don’t think any parent could, even if you were thinking, ‘I need a rest’.”
So much for the hunt for Our Maddie. What of the facts?
Kate confessed she drew strength from her anger when she and her heart consultant husband Gerry, 40, were suspected by Portuguese police of being involved in Madeleine’s disappearance.
Such are the facts. Although in the Sunday People, Gerry McCann is a “brain specialist“.
Such are the facts.
The Mail looks for Our Maddie - but just sees Kate McCann:
Kate McCann: ‘There are days since Madeleine vanished when I just wish I was in a coma’
The Scotsman sees Kate MCann. And, more vitally, the Mail sees Kate McCann crying:
Mrs McCann choked back tears as they watched footage of Madeleine…
During a section filmed at the family home in Leicestershire, Mrs McCann broke into tears as she showed pictures drawn by Madeleine that she could not bring herself to remove from a refrigerator.
Struggling to hold back tears Mrs McCann added: “She was just really good company, you know. She was just like my little friend, sort of, all the time.”
Bring the tissues. Are we looking for Our Maddie?
Mrs McCann said: “Just when you think things can’t get any worse… it suddenly dawned on me that they weren’t looking for Madeleine and they weren’t looking for the abductor.”
No, they were watching the parents.
In the Sun:
Kate McCann: There can be no greater pain than this
And on the BBC:
Mrs McCann also said she was told not to show emotion when appealing for her return, “because the abductor could get some kind of… kick out of it”.
A kick out of someone’s pain.. What sickos would see a woman’s tears as entertainment..?

Latest news is the McCanns have had contact with missing Australian boy, Daniel Morcombe’s family. Do hope the Morcombe’s see right through the McCanns or else their lives will be turned inside out if money ventures are in the offering!.

I’m not convinced !
If I was involved in the PR campaign and I was being highly paid, would a conclusion be in my best financial interests ?

Man, I need a translator to read the comments on here these days!
What is the “Doris March”, who is “Old Chesty” and what in Paul Connell is “The Dark Site?”
I used to read the comments here to keep up with the news (if any), but now it’s starting to sound like a fanboy site…

Maria, lovely seeing you again on here albeit too briefly. You take care and stay well and try not to disappear for too long.

Hi Totje,
I can’t resist one last message to say “Hello” to you!
I’ve just watched the Oprah show in full on Diva TV. Just as you say….. It would be wonderful if there was some response but not likely, I fear. However, one can only wish them success in their search. It’s been known before, as Oprah said at the end. Who knows? Sadly, I think it’s inevitable that they’ll pin new hopes on this new campaign, to be followed by more sad disappointment. But I don’t think they’ll ever give up. Kate looked pretty determined that it was a life’s commitment.
I haven’t visited the dark side more than a few times, but I know who their patron saints are! I’ll certainly look at the other site you mention. Sounds interesting.
Take care Totje. Having “spoken” to you again, as well as C n C and Cheryl, I’ll go. I did hope you might post. I always loved your warm, witty and wise posts! For a whole variety of reasons, I don’t want to get really involved again, and I don’t see much point. There really isn’t any news.
BTW, you may already know there’s a programme on channel 4 this Thursday, a new documentary two years on. GM and a couple of the friends went to Portugal to help in the making. I read that Kate felt unable to go back. Not sure if you can access that channel.
Yes, pity about the exchange that never was! I did look out for the Doris march. Thought it might be on the anniversary but I saw nothing about it. I believe old chesty and cronies gave out leaflets at some event where CM was speaking? Hasn’t he also written to MPs? Maybe just rumours. There’s been virtually nothing in the media until the new picture and the rundown to the Oprah show.
Take care Totje! May post again if there’s ever any news. Greetings to all.

Hi Maria, I haven’t been around much lately. Hope all’s well at your place?
There are still loads of crackpot theories and the believers still gather at the Dark Site.
They need their heroes and they’ve got them. The “Sainted Duo”, GA & old Chesty.
Pity though we couldn’t swap places. Looks like Doris’ March didn’t make it to the papers.
And the 60 reasons (3 GBP) is devaluated to a real leaflet of 10 Reasons (10 or 20 p).
But there’s a request to make “watching paint dry” an Olympic sport. The writer, Katie Smith (Eclectic) wrote a 60 Reasons leaflet too. If you want to read some fun stuff, go over to her website and take a look. Seems Old Chesty isn’t amused by her.
I’ve seen some clips of the Oprah show, very touching. Hope they’ll find her, though I doubt they’ll find her alive.
Take care X

I too need to hear why Kate was sure that Madeleine had been abducted before I can believe it.
Surely the normal first thought would have been that she’d woken and wandered off to look for her parents. Mind you, I still don’t know the true stories of the shutters and doors, i.e. jemmied or not, unlocked or not. The ‘facts’ seem to change around and add to the confusion.
I’m also wondering why CM was on GMTV this morning talking about another possible sighting that wasn’t investigated. He was talking about it as if it was the first mention of it. Surely that was the sighting by the family who rang after seeing the footage of GM carrying one of the twins at the airport. That was well publicised ages ago and it’s in the files.
When you look at all the little anomalies, it’s understandable that some people are suspicious about what happened that night.
===========================================================
Bat E Bird, in view of the number of interviews given by virtually all concerned over the past 2 years, to my mind, it is simply not acceptable for there to be any confusion as to what did or did not take place. A child is missing, so one would expect adults to put aside ther own feelings and fears in order to give clear accurate infomation in order to help find that child.
The fact that there are still so many confusions and contradictions speaks volumes, no matter how it’s spun.

To believe something with no evidence requires a great deal of faith, usually
demonstrated by strong religeous beliefs.
I am agnostic and my nature is to query what is around me. Believe in an abduction with no evidence at all ? - a difficult one for me. To consider the possibility of some other event, backed up by circumstantial events, behaviour
anomolies and fact that search dogs did find something, does not make me a
proponent of ludicrous theories. Quite the reverse. Like C and C, I am entitled to this opinion, without insult.
I have many acquaintances who feel this whole issue is iffy but have only
concerns for the daughter who has been so badly let down.
May 5th, 2009 at 3:24 pm
I have no theories about what has happened to this child and as far as I am concerned she is no more special than any other missing child. We don’t choose our parents, and like others, she got a bit of a bum deal.
But, having listened closely to the interviews and presentations about the case, what I really can’t get my head around, try as I might, is how any rational adult can believe the absolute nonsensical rubbish *edit* that spew forth from the mouth of the parties and commentators directly involved. Furthermore, as far as I can see their PR man has done the child’s parents no favours whatsoever. What is the point of him? And as for using the public’s donations, intended for the search of their daughter, to pay this man’s salary, don’t know how these people sleep at night.

I don’t expect to see MM wandering down my street any time soon, but it’s good to remind us that she is (maybe…) now going to be a lot different to when she went missing. Nice also to see some sensible posts!!

Hello to you too Maria. Hope all is well……….
Agree about the internet. I also know no-one (bar one friend) who beleives any of the internet tripe about the McCanns. Everyone is mostly sympathetic to their plight though disapproving of their childcare arrangements.
Do you wander over to the Dark Side? Now darker than ever and making The Flat Earth Society seem positively logical!
May 5th, 2009 at 12:01 pm
I doubt it Clive!
PeterMac, sorry, but that sounds a bit like a desperate effort to produce some sort of theory which just might explain their current actions! Most unlikely!
Of course, we’ve seen other theories put forward by the Mcs’ detractors; theories which were nothing if not many, varied, ludicrously improbable, mainly actually impossible, useless, except maybe to Dan Brown for his next novel. No proof for any of them, and no consistency except in their potential to sell newspapers for a while and excite the mob…..very temporarily! (We do KNOW our press!)
Few people ever thought the Mcs guilty, though no doubt some wobbled when the arguido status was imposed. A few detractors remain, of course, at least on the net.
But then, look on the net and you’ll find people who believe the earth is flat, no American astronauts ever walked on the moon, honey will cure you of every disease known to man, EVEN that the theory of evolution is complete rubbish and creationism is true!!
Think of any crackpot theory and you’ll find a few who believe it…and where better to “meet” than on the net?
Have nice discussions, everyone. I’m off for another few months. Special greetings to Cheryl, C n C, Totje if she ever posts these days.

Pleased about all this new publicity for lost girl - it may backfire on the good doctors, all the same
