Madeleine McCann: Oprah Winfrey Community Blames McCanns
MADELEINE McCann Watch: Introducing Daniel Morcombe and Oprah’s online community point the finger at the McCanns…
Brisbane Times: “’Keep searching’ Morcombes tell McCanns”
The disappearances of Sunshine Coast teenager Daniel Morcombe and British toddler Madeleine McCann, who vanished in completely different circumstances and different time zones, have drawn together families both desperate for closure…
One fact links the two: someone’s child is missing.
Mr Morcombe said he and Denise had considered releasing a computer-generated image of Daniel, as he may look aged 19, but decided it was not relevant to his case.
“As grave as it sounds, we think that it’s incredibly unlikely that Daniel is still alive. We don’t think that an (age-progressed) computer-generated image would help the investigation,” he said.
Idaho Statesman: “McCanns to Winfrey: Madeleine is still alive”
In a tearful interview with Oprah Winfrey that aired Monday, the parents of a British girl who disappeared two years ago from a Portuguese resort asked their daughter’s alleged abductor to “tell us where she is.”
Does the Idaho Statesman not believe the McCanns? You can’t libel a namesless abductor, but you can lible the McCanns:
Kate and Gerry McCann said on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” that they believe a man took their daughter, Madeleine, and she is still alive. The girl was almost 4 years old when she disappeared in May 2007.
“It’s not too late to do the right thing,” Gerry McCann said when Winfrey asked the parents what they wanted to say to the person who took Madeleine.
“You know, they can give her up, they can tell us where she is,” he said. “They can hand her over to a priest or someone in authority.”
And Kate McCann?
“This man is known to somebody,” she said. “He’s someone’s son, someone’s brother, someone’s cousin, someone’s neighbor, someone’s colleague, someone’s partner, so he’s known to someone. And even if these people don’t know that he definitely did it, they might have a suspicion, and it’s just, I guess, somehow reaching out to them and saying please come forward.”
Facts. And now a few more facts from the good people at Oprah Winfrey’s community website:
Note: Many of the comments on Oprah’s libel the McCanns and we will nto repeat them here.
No she did not say that at all and the prime minister was not Gordon Brown at the time when Kate kept her diary, the prime minister was Tony Blair. Please adhere to the facts.
Tony Blair actually rung Kate and Gerry and before you go making a big deal out of this, I know for certain that Tony Blair used to make a habit of ringing people he thought may need him and sometimes he would ring people completely out of the blue who had written to him, regardless of who they voted for – Diarubyem
I am a mother of 3 grown boys. This story gave me nightmares even though I have kept up with it since it happened two years ago. I am appalled at the number of people who think these parents are guilty and have such anger and hatred toward them - loridushki
And so after appearing on the Oprah Woinfery show, a news nation is watching the parents…
And from Oprah’s staff, no mention of libel, just:
The little girl who vanished from her family vacation. In their first interview in America, Madeleine McCann’s parents talk to Oprah. See what life is like now.
So says “HARPOBear” - who delivers the Oprah Winfrey call to arms:
Welcome to Oprah.com! Get inspired. Reach for your dreams. Feel empowered and energized every day to make choices that will lead to a happier, more fulfilling life. Be delighted. Grow. Connect. Give back. Live your life as if it really matters, because it does.
The show is not to help in the hunt for the child. The show is about watching the parents and getting off on their pain. And playing armchair detective, engaging in debate over their innocence or guilt.
It’s the kind of thing what many readers of Anorak send it - but we don’t post nearly all the commetns. We modertate.
In any high-profile story, the publication walk a tightrope between trying to satisfy public hunger for information and staying within contempt laws.
It is not “fair comment” to say the McCanns killed their daughter - its is speculation. It is libel. Libel. Libel. Tabloid TV, like the tabloid press, can do more harm than good.
Ask Robert Murat.
Madeleine McCann is missing - after two years, the Our Maddie show has become a circus…
Did you see them with the Pope - “a British public spectacle; an emtional national experience”?
Pull up a chair. Tissue or a red hot poker, sir, madam? Enjoy…

Hi Gandolf
Was that your picture on facebook? I like to think it was.

Garth
Why should Murat speak to the press? He was dragged into it. He’s won his libel case, hacks clearly hate him… I wouldn’t bother if I was him…
And why would he give money to the MM fund… I wouldn’t… I think it’s a waste of time.

116 Garth says:
I know full well that as arguidos they were prevented from speaking about the events of that night. I’m also fully aware that he has been cleared. However, my point is, that he has never gone public SINCE being cleared. The McCanns have clarified the situation on many false claims made against them. Murat has not, YET he was very willing to help the investigation when MM went missing. There maybe of course, nothing to read into that, however, if it were me in his position, I would be very vocal about my version of the events of that night, and if monies were to be paid by the press and i sincerely wanted to help, then i would have forwarded the monies to aid the search for MM.
—————————————————————————————–
Garthy! Murat seemed to me to act with a degree of dignity before during and after this whole farce. He tried to help, got his collar felt after the Tapas lot pointed the finger, got himself crucified in the press and after arguido status was dropped he quietly sued and went away to try to rebuild any part of his life (and his daughters life) left. He will constantly have the ‘there cant be smoke without fire’ brigade on his trail.
Would you really have queued up for any more aggrevation? I wouldnt!

Story is in the Dailymail over there with pictures. One needs to ask oneself why some leads were put away deep in the files two years ago and just surfacing now…
Notice that sorry excuse for a boy in blue is touting a new book. Interesting his answers to some questions asked him …. still blaming the British Police, Politics and McCanns ….everyone but himself for his own ineptness.

watch this…. proof
Well I know who the ugly man was, who was watching the flat and lurking for a week!!
May 7th, 2009 at 9:25 am
I’ve seen it all now with this new suspect. It’s getting beyond ridiculous. It’s the bogey man all the kids should be afraid of and if anyone seriously thinks Gandolf has changed his tune then they must be mad
May 7th, 2009 at 9:16 am
If you has spotted a very ugly man, report him to the police, he may be answer to all your questions regarding Madeleine…..I knew appearing on Oprah would shed some new light and that the power of agony t.v. would turn up something really ugly…..maybe Oprah can feature the agony of acne in an upcoming show….it’s no fun being spotty….
I ask you all seriously….forget there will ever be a trial in court in this case….leave the McCann clan to get on with their grieving…..and be careful & kind to kids.

New suspect sketch everyone! Can’t wait for the Anorak commentary on this one… apparently the new baddie is “ugly”.
Didn’t you just know it?

I could have been rich!
40 000 British pounds = 60 528 U.S. dollars
Though I think Bill is much more fun to look at as Tony is

I found this link for a Tony Blair speech he gave last year
http://www.thaindian.com/newsportal/india-news/tony-blair-rakes-in-six-figure-fee-for-90-minute-speech_10037242.html,
and his wife charge(d)s £40k per speech.
It all depends on how much people want to hear what is said and by whom.

Hi Maria still around?
Q: How much do keynote speakers generally cost?
Speaker fees vary widely depending on the speaker’s popularity, his or her availability and the event requirements. Generally, fees for keynote speeches begin around $3,000, with the average national keynote fee being $7,500 (source: NSA, MPI). For celebrity speakers and top business experts, fees can range from $20,000 to $40,000 and up. For well-known personality names fees are usually over $60,000. And people such as Bill Cosby, motivational speaker Tony Robbins and Bill Clinton are over $100,000. In most cases, travel and lodging expenses are in addition to the speaker honorarium, including coach/business or first-class travel, accommodations and limited out-of-pocket expenses.

80 000 Euros = 106 400 U.S. dollars
Not very modest, is he?

Its the Kate and Gerry show now, and I agree for some they seem to have completely eclipsed the existence of their little girl, let alone shifted the focus of her absence.

So where is Rasputin?
May 6th, 2009 at 11:05 pm
This place is getting weirder and weirder… blasts from the past rising up right and left…
And then when you read the comments, it gets even worse.
What really cracks me up is the people who have been following the case for two years, taking the p*ss out of others for following the case for two years. “oooh, geddalife, like wot I’ve got, I’m watching YOU, watching THIS!”
Little girls do disappear, regrettably every day, but not all of them are white and blonde and with media-happy parents. Apparently, all those characteristics didn’t actually help this one! In case no one has noticed whilst drooling after the parents, their little girl is still … um… well… missing.

“We all know why, you only have to read the post by Maicen when he/she refers to the McCanns and their friends as ’smug little yuppies’ to understand the mentality. That attitude has been ascentuated by the so called ‘neglect’ that people are quick to refer. Only in truth, most (not all) are narrow minded hypocrites.”
So true, Garth! And it also all comes back to the neglect issue they rant and rave about. Like, give it a break, we ALL agree it was neglect to leave those wee ones alone. Therefore, open your minds and eyes, put aside your frigging tunnel vision focused on the parents, and THINK of another very real possibility.
May 6th, 2009 at 9:22 pm
Maria, as I stated I’d give anything to see one other person questioned by Oprah! He comes out with a self-serving cover your arse book imo and some people look on him as a sainted one!
If people really need to get their jollies off by writing nasty, scurrilous postings about another, I can come up with a candidate for them.
May 6th, 2009 at 9:11 pm
Attention moderator, no one has been cleared as no one was charged, however the 3 arguidos papers have been filed with the case, rumours abound as to why the fragrant and bounceable Kate has not set foot in Portugal, arrest is the whispered word, who knows in this strange world what is going down, hiya Karen how’s the seams.

The cost of a Madeleine interview Sky News
By Martin Brunt
May 06, 2009 1:27 PM
If you were wondering why there was no interview with former Algarve police chief Goncalo Amaral in our recent Madeleine coverage, here’s why.
His agent emailed us: “Since he left Policia Judiciaria his main concern is to reveal to the general public the facts (which) occured during the investigation.”
Then he wrote: “He will be available, but will charge a fee of 80.000 euros VAT.”
Yeah, we wondered if he meant 80 euros, too.
We didn’t wonder for long.
Nem pensar, Jose!

Moderator - His name along with the McCanns have been cleared, have they not?
Incidentally Garth , I am neither debating nor discussing Murat’s position, just advising you he has been cleared and has successfully sued the Press for various libels over the McCann situationI
———————————
I think you’re missing my point.
I know full well that as arguidos they were prevented from speaking about the events of that night. I’m also fully aware that he has been cleared. Like I said earlier, we have heard nothing from, whom was at one point, the chief suspect in the investigation.
Moderator _ I repeat that I am not debating the issue, but I am moderating what is said to protect Anorak.
Your views or any others views on Murat are fine as long as they are not libellous, this also applies to any other former suspects in the case
May 6th, 2009 at 6:52 pm
Garth, remember this newspaper article? Why do people prefer to disregard imo the real possibility she was abducted and tear those parents to shred? Gives them a power high? Delusions of grandeour that they are perfect and have the right to stand in judgment of another? Talk about school yard bullies!

Gandolf, I’m in shock! Never thought I’d read on here you expressing doubt. What lack of sincerity did you observe to base your new stand on?
Kate McCann was not pretending nor putting on an act. She is still grief stricken and no doubt in my mind she is refusing to face reality and will not accept the possibility that her child may not be alive. I believe Gerry McCann has accepted reality that odds are against them finding their child alive.
It is common knowledge the hardest thing on a marriage is when a child dies. Can you imagine the strain that marriage is under? Both are filled with guilt they left their daughter alone; Kate McCann is filled with grief and will not accept her child may not be alive and no doubt in my mind she shows that grief morning, noon and night; then you have Gerry McCann who does face reality as time goes by …

Which is more or less what the Tapas9 did to Mr Robert Murat, isn’t it ?
It got him a fist full of cash, but got the McCs nowhere.
———————-
Hindsight is a great thing isn’t it? How would we have ever known if he wasn’t fully investigated you cynical berk? And suspiciously, Murat appears rather quiet after his ordeal, bearing in mind he was so willing to help initially! He could have made a few more bob if he had gone to the press with his side of the story and put to rest any doubts about his activities. Yet we’ve heard nothing from the other chief suspect………….
Moderator - All of the 3 arguidos were silenced weren’t they , and unable to talk to the Press?
And after the accusations from the Press towards Murat….

You’re just noticing that they’re pratts… I’m still leaning towards the dingo theory…
May 6th, 2009 at 4:04 pm
so perhaps Maddie was made to disappear into thin air by the Portuguese equivalent of David Copperfield, eh Maicen…??
four-year olds do not abduct themselves or have the capacity to hide for any length of time without being found - and where does “smug little yuppies” come from…?
the parents made a bad mistake - the worst - and they are paying for it big style now…. and the child is still missing after 2 years….
maybe this has more to do with a dip in property prices in Praia….?
