Swine Fever: MPs Cash In While Troops Die
A READERS writes on Swine Fever and war:
These people are sent to fight at our behest, ill equipped and having to fund necessary items from their own salary, whilst the Govt who sent them squander an as yet unknown and obscene amount of tax payers money on cushy living
Delays in defence projects have left front-line troops in Afghanistan serving with almost obsolete equipment, a cross-party committee of MPs says.
Twenty of the Ministry of Defence’s biggest projects are a total of 40 years late, the Public Accounts Committee said in a critical report.

I don’t understand why after years of failing to meet timetables, defence contractors and Government alike are amazed when contracts fail to come in on time and on budget.
The Terrier Armoured Engineer vehicle which is over 2 years behind schedule does not steer. This is a fundamental failing in any vehicle never mind one you would want to go to war in. I think they must knock up a prototype in the Blue Peter workshops and hope it sticks together until the contract is signed
As for the Airbus A400 transport plane. It had never flown when it was heralded as the answer to everyone’s military transport problems. It was bought, off the drawing board, by the nations who were going to build it and it looks now, despite full order books, as if it may never go into service at all
