Peace Czar Barack Obama Talks While North Korea And Iran Carry On Regardless

BARACK Obama – anyone know what he’s going to do over North Korea and Iran?

The Czar Man

President Barack Obama is taking the practice of naming czars to new heights. As Foreign Policy points out, with the selection of “border czar” Alan Bersin, the Obama administration surpassed the Romanovs in its production of czars. It took those old Russkies 300 years to produce 18 czars. It took Obama less than 100 daysKatherine Mangu-Ward

North Korea Tests

The question one faces when negotiating with regimes like North Korea is whether any level of protection money will ever satisfy it. A shopkeeper in a rough neighborhood who gives a thug money to go away and never to come back is sending the signal to come back. Extortion is North Korea’s main and only industry. Anything it receives is a “sale”. Why should it not want to sell more? One of the questions Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu asked was what the Obama administration would do if its attempts to contain the Iranian nuclear program by diplomacy failed. It may be recalled that Pakistan, a country whose stability has been questioned recently, is building two large plutonium reactors unconnected to the electricity grid – Richard Fernandez

PowerLine

I’ve never thought much of Barack Obama’s policies, and I’m starting not to think much of him as a human being. Today he continued his gratuitous and graceless attacks on his predecessor in the inappropriate context of Memorial Day:

Our fighting men and women – and the military families who love them – embody what is best in America. And we have a responsibility to serve all of them as well as they serve all of us.

And yet, all too often in recent years and decades, we, as a nation, have failed to live up to that responsibility. We have failed to give them the support they need or pay them the respect they deserve. That is a betrayal of the sacred trust that America has with all who wear – and all who have worn – the proud uniform of our country.

Barack Obama, the soldiers’ friend! As Chris Stirewalt notes:

It gets little notice, but even to this day Bush makes calls on wounded veterans at military hospitals, corresponds with families of fallen servicemembers and gives his own money to veterans charities. In office, Bush hugely increased funding for veterans programs and worked relentlessly to improve the lot of ordinary troops.

Barack Obama’s promise:

Obama and Biden will … negotiate a verifiable global ban on the production of new nuclear weapons material to curb the spread of nuclear weapons. Barack Obama will pursue tough, direct diplomacy without preconditions to end the threat from Iran.

And..?

Iran is clearly moving closer to acquiring a nuclear weapons capability…, Admiral Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said….”Most of us believe that it is one to three years (away from acquiring nuclear weapons), depending on assumptions about where they are right now. But they are moving closer clearly and they continue to do that,” he said.

Meanwhile:

North Korea said it staged a successful and more powerful underground nuclear test Monday than its previous test in 2006, followed later Monday by the apparent launches of three short-range missiles.

And before:

During the U.S. Presidential primaries last year, I had expressed my misgivings that Barack Obama might turn out to be another Jimmy Carter, whose confused thinking and soft image paved the way for the success of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.

Obama On the Mountain

Despite having won his election nearly seven months ago, and perhaps because of grumblings from critics that he could emulate Jimmy Carter and be a one-term Democrat president, Mr Obama cannot help but try to court popularity. He often does this, as in the abortion speech, by seeking to create an idea that he is somehow above differences within the American nation, and that he can represent neither camp or both camps on any question, however tendentious. It won’t work.

The future is fudged

But I watched the speech itself — given the kind of live mass coverage that commencement speeches seldom receive — with a kind of admiring horror. In a few short minutes of sophistical artistry, Obama had changed the issue from whether we should allow the killing of babies, to whether we should tolerate the sort of people who are against such things. And then, by declaring that we should, indeed, tolerate such people, he harvested the general applause.

Here is a man who will in fact change America. I flinch at what it will become.

So what does Obama do?
