A reader writes on Julie Kirkbride:
I note that the seeds of her return elsewhere are being sown. She has not resigned because she has done anything wrong. Her expenses claims have been fully justified. No, she has left because of threats to her and her family which are jusr too too horrid to publish at the moment.
Look out for the Sunday supplements’ - At Homes With Julie Kirkbride…

what I would now like to know is - why are the faceless people at the Commons Fees Office not being named and shamed? it is one thing for a dodgy MP to try and get invalid or unsuitable things paid for on the QT through expenses, but who are the people who signed the cheques?
who was it who looked at the expense claim for a duck house or moat cleaning and said “oh that’s ok then!” and gave away the taxpayers’ money?
what authority do they have? who is ultimately responsible for them? are these idiots going to be prosecuted/reprimanded/dismissed…?
seems to me that the current furore around the Cabinet is rapidly overtaking the questions which STILL remain to be answered regarding MP expense claims.

that’s right, Yampster - is having a Chancellor who is above board and doesn’t make “mistakes” with his own finances too much to ask…?

Alistair Darling has ‘flipped’ four times in for years and cost us £20k in stamp duty. I like a man who’s careful with his money to be Chancellor but I prefer one who is more careful with mine

Now we find that Ed Ball has claimed for two wreathes for Remembrance Day and Frank Cook claims for a £5 collection at another comemoration service. Did they claim for the poppies they wore as well?
Fiddling your expenses is one thing, but fiddling your donations? I have yet to find any claims for the Big Issue but I don’t think we have long to wait

I wonder, shall she charge entry fees?
