The Mcs have long made it clear that there is a reward for information which would help them find out what happened. Read their posters. They say nothing about the sort of person they will, or will not, give reward money to! As you say, Cheryl, one would do precisely that.

I think the point is that he cannot possibly expect money BEFORE he gives them the info. IF he gives them info which is shown to be genuinely useful, true etc. then I don’t see how the reward money could be refused……….

BUT………..what would happen if the person actually responsible for taking Madeleine were ever to turn him/herself in??

Cheryl, when I said quiet I actually meant nothing much happening outside the game of ping pong with Hewlett. After all, there are other people of interest to the investigation to which there has been no news.

Either Hewlett is as brazen as they come, knows nothing, and thinks he can get away with leading the investigators up a blind alley

He is involved and thinks he can get away with it and make some money by giving the investigators false leads.

Personally, I don’t think there’s any ‘underworld’ involved in this abduction. I think it more likely she was taken by someone and that someone (local) is the only person who knows what actually happened.

June, that is true. However, if there is truth to the story that he has demanded money for information he has about her disappearance, I would think the police would be all over him like flies on rancid meat making him ‘offers’ he’d best not refuse to acertain exactly what he knows.

The reward money if she is found is huge, most honest people would happily take much less.
Isn’t the size of it purely to tempt the underworld into revealing information for (the underworlds) financial gain anyway.

We still haven’t heard of any arrest by West Yorks Police, and had they had any information on the MM case they would have informed Leics police , and also arrested him.

The rest of it is likely media hype

Grande Finale, I think any of us would pay any amount of money to have information on our missing child. In my mind the McCanns are now between a rock and a hard spot - damned if they do and damned if they don’t. He is a true piece of rancid garabage putting a price on information he may have in his possession. Wonder if there are laws over there covering such a situation as has now arisen. Is he trying to extort money from them by demanding money for information he has? What if they do pay him for information and he turns around and claims they were giving him a bribe to say what they want? Does he really know jackshit!

Yet on the other hand he is a true person of interest - a known paedophile and lived in proximity of the Resort. Can we place credence in anything the people who claim to have befriended him said he told them? However, didn’t he say early on Madeleine was not abducted as her parents claimed? So what information does he have to sell them now? Truth or Lies?

Maria, he is a surrreal piece of work. In a press conference last month (link below) he “finally admitted the Portugese Police bungled the job.” Portugese Police bungled the job? A Portugese policeman “bungled the job” but the Portugal Police officials stood by and permitted him to bungle that job for all most five months, imo. Then he says “Its true. At the time there was no set procedure for a missing child. The crime scene was not well looked after.” It didn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that he didn’t have a clue on how to conduct a proper investigation without having it spelled out in writing in a police manual step-by-step for him to refer to as he went along, imo. As stated in the previous article I posted “As was the case with the Madeleine investigation, the hunt for Joana was hindered because police failed to seal off the house where she was last seen.”

Note how easily he solved the Cipriano case without having set procedures to follow in doing an investigation of a missing child, he accused the mother. She admitted she did it when questioned. Granted someone or someones beat the living hell out of her to refresh her memory but the case was solved.

What does he do to solve the McCann case just as quickly and easily without knowing procedures to follow in doing a proper investigation of a missing child, imo? He accuses Kate McCann of taking her daughter’s life. That worked in the Cipriano case. Wasn’t quite that easy to refresh Kate McCann’s memory when she screamed she didn’t harm her daughter when he accused her of it, as the world was watching that case, imo. So, he sits at long lunches speaking in a loud voice for all to hear the parents did it, leaks information on the case not based on proven facts to throw further suspicion on the parents and then they are made arguidos.
