MEDIA is upset, nay, outraged that a Bangkok tabloid has run a picture of David Carradine’s hanging body.
No-one is more outraged and upset then Gawker, which says the “rather disturbing photo definitely shows the actor’s hands tied above his head. There’s something eerily off, here.”
So off is it that Gawker does not publish the picture of the dead actor – not for fear of looking smutty and cheap but because Keith Carradine, David’s brother opines:
“The family wants it understood that, per attorney Mark Geragos, any persons, publications or media outlets will be fully prosecuted for invasion of privacy and causing severe emotional distress if the photos are published.”
So Gawker won’t publish the picture for fear of being sued. But - come closer - they know who will publish the image and to save you the bother of searching the web for it, the site has provided a link to…
“The Post Chronicle. It’s - from what I can tell - an ad-heavy, shoddy news aggregation website based out of New Jersey.”
Of course, no readers are interested in clicking THE LINK and LOOKING at the picture. Says Gawker:
We’ve linked to the photo below. The picture, while slightly blurred and a little shaky, is still obviously graphic, disturbing, and not something you really want to look at on a Sunday afternoon.
This was published on a, er, Sunday afternoon, making the writer, Foster Kramer, either a fool, a sensationalist or a hack who wants it both ways and panders to everyone’s fears and desires. (Foster, if you want a job in the UK, call the Daily Mail.)
Of course, this is not to say that the readers don’t want it. And when Anorak told readers of pictures on the Daily Mail of Farrah Fawcett on her death bed – and how hideous it was – around 9,000 of you clicked through to the pictures.
So publish and be damned?

THERE ARE SECURITY CAMERAS IN THE HALLWAYS. THE U.S. EMBASSY HAS LODGED NO COMPLAINT ABOUT THE WAY THE THAI AUTHORITIES HAVE HANDLED THIS,NOR HAS THERE BEEN ANY REQUEST FOR AN F.B.I. INVESTIGATION.ANYONE WHO HAS STAYED AT A TOP CLASS HOTEL IN BANGKOK KNOWS THE DEGREE OF SCRUTINY EVERYONE ENTERING THE HOTEL RECIEVES. THE STAFF TO GUEST RATIO IS OFTEN 2 TO 1. IN GRUESOME DETAIL. IT WOULD HAVE MADE THE PAPERS IF IT WAS SOME THAI TUK TUK DRIVER, AS THIS IS NOT A REAL FREQUENT METHOD OF DEATH FOUND IN THAILAND. CoolandCalm, you are correct, the manner of his death is irrelevant. Besides what is thought as weird or kinky by one could very well be normal to another’s taste. Unfortunately, what may well come out of his death, with all the publicity of what he may have been trying, is the sex game picking back up in popularity again. Years ago it was the ‘rage’ for some adults, college kids and young teens and death can result from it, as one young teen died trying it..

Well, seems as if I’m the only bad person here who looked at the fake photo.
It shows a person whose body is that of a 20 year old male with dark, voluminous hair in a cramped hotel room. NO RESEMBLANCE with 72-year-old Carradine at all. And in my opinion the shabby hotel room is not a suite in the “Swiss Park Nai Lert Hotel” either.

It’s sad you had to die this way. It’s none of our business what your sex life was like if indeed this was how you died. I think there is much more to this than is being told. May we find the truth, and shame on you people that MUST see the picture! He could have been murdered and posed that way. What a sad way to see a good actor in his day end up. I don’t believe all the crap that I’ve read. I didn’t even know he was “Supposed” to enjoy this type of sex and don’t think it was my business. I feel sorry for the family. Grasshopper may they find your murderers so you may rest in peace. God bless you.

Carradine’s death is a disaster.
I had almost filled the 2009 Thai Whiplash Tour booking rosta and had the majority of the Main Boards of RBS, Lloyds, HSBC and Barclays signed up as well as the surviving male members of the British Cabinet still with complete gonads. Not many of those left after the busty UK woman minister’s emasculation last week.
The publication of those photographs is a disgrace and those responsible should be pubisly flogged. That nice Ozzie crumbling crumpet Patricia Hewitt (former and now ex-everything and, pre MPs’ expenses, once the boss of National Council for Civil Liberties) knows how to take the piss and says it’s a dead liberty since she would have chipped in on the whip round when Gordon’s turn in the cupboard came. Depending on the exs, of course.
It’s ruination. Think laterally they said. All I ever asked for was a fair crack of the whip while the others were tied up with something else. Carradine’s blown it good and proper this time.

The manner of his death is irrelevant, it is just so disprespectful to him and his family. I wonder why we are so obsessed with the sexual habits of others?
On a lighter note, my family get really pis*ed with me when, everytime I open the oven with glasses on and they steam up, I look around and say ‘Aaahhh, Glasshopper…’ I am so easily amused! and I did so love David Carradine in that series. RIP.

From the beginning of time we have been interested in death. Viewing a man that is expired is completely different than seeing someone suffer for months or years from a terrible disease. A lot of people are curious at the sight of death, it doesnt make them bad people. I have been curious about death for as long as I remember, and I give this curiousity credit for being a damn good nurse in a critical care unit. I fight harder to save everyone under my care, trust me it dont make you a bad person.

Frankly, one should tour a local hospital cancer ward to satisfy their morbid curiosity of seeing a person dying of cancer and to view a dead corpse just visit your local medical examiner’s morgue, you’ll see sights in both that will stay in your memory for a life-time.
