Big Brother Cancels Charity Line

by | 8th, June 2009

BIG Brother is doing so well that Channel 4 says it will no longer donate any money to charity from its Big Brother phone votes.

A vote for Sophie will not see 10p of every 35p vote going to to charity.

Says Big Brother:

“The costs associated with running the Big Brother vote line have meant it has run at a considerable loss for the last couple of years.

“Given the current climate, after very careful consideration, Channel 4 has regretfully decided not to make charity donations for this series of Big Brother in order to limit this loss and ensure we are managing our finances optimally to allow us to continue delivering our public service remit.”

Channel 4 are not anti-charity, rather the move will “bring the programme into line with reality series on other channels including The X Factor, Dancing on Ice and Strictly Come Dancing”.

Big Brother, a show that relies on free talent, is too expensive to make. Channel 4 is in trouble…
