David Carradine In Wig And Suspenders

MORE news on David Carradine, whose apparent death from auto-erotic asphyxiation occupies minds at the New York Daily News.

The newspaper sees the picture of his dead body, and notes that the corpse seems to be dressed in a wig and fishnet stockings. On the bed nearby is “red lingerie”.

The sex angle is alluring, and offers Carradine no peace in death.

Says the Sun:

“The owner of an LA sex shop the Kung Fu legend frequented said he placed a whopping order of lingerie, stockings, bondage equipment and DVDs shortly before his trip to Thailand.”

The impression is of a man making ready for a trip overseas, packing his bags in a bid to blend in with the locals. For such reasons Old Mr Anorak always travels to Thailand with his ping-pong bat, and to the “North” with a shell suit.

Lest you forget:

Carradine was found in the wardrobe of his luxury hotel suite in Bangkok last week with a rope around his neck, hands and genitals.

One cannot help but wonder how an updated version of Fawlty Towers would incorporate the scene. Look on as Basil invades an elderly guest’s room in a bid to hear goings on in the next and in checking the wardrobe for woodworm finds a man waiting to be dry cleaned.

The owner of Susie’s Delights in the Los Angeles suburb of Tarzana revealed that 72-year-old Carradine was a regular who shopped in the store a few times a month for several years.

She said Carradine owned almost every piece of bondage equipment that the shop stocked.

This may be a comment more on the shop than Carradine. And we wonder what pieces Carradine did not own, and why not? And if the shop should have expanded its range?

Actress Gail Jensen, who was the third of Carradine’s wives, has confirmed that the late actor had an obsession with kinky during their 15 years together.

She revealed that Carradine was fond of tying himself up in the bedroom of their California ranch, experimented with drowning himself in their swimming pool and liked riding horses bareback while only wearing Speedo swimming trunks.

But this is not the last image we have of Carradine. As Entertainment Weekly observes:

Obviously the producers of the new Fox show Mental had no idea that this week’s guest star, David Carradine, would die before the broadcast of the episode called “Book of Judges.” And so there was a lot of unintentional eeriness [sic] in seeing Carradine playing an author who’d been struck by lightning and was immobile, in a catatonic state. For most of the hour, Carradine’s limp body lay on a bed or was propped up in a wheelchair.
