At the end of each loaf are two thick crusts which are usually thrown away. If the average family in the UK consumes two loaves a week then that is approximately 60 million crusts being thrown away each week. You don't have to be a mathematical genius to work out how much bread that is a year. Now, if we extrapolate those figures world wide we see that there is tremendous wastage of bread and the grain to make it in these thick crusts. We need a UN resolution to get bakers worldwide to stop baking loaves with crusts on the end. Simple. Next week.
