No, you chose to assume that I chose to blame the Americans for the on going fighting. I did no such thing. Read the original post again. It's part of America's paranoia not mine.

Yampster, that is History as written about that War. Not US's version of the history of that War. You are the one who deliberately chose to blame America solely for the on-going fighting after a Peace Agreement was signed and thus make us the 'bad guys', which was made obvious in your need to mention that another century went by before we killed more Bitish soldiers.

The american version of the facts does not detract from my original statement. We were at peace when the action took place. To reduce the discussion to schoolyard taunts of 'well you started it' does nothing to cover the fact that this was a tragic final action in a pointless tragic war.

I have to admit, Yampster, I am quite embarrassed to have put that song in fun on Anorak not realizing the truth behind it. However, I do know about the history re the White House colour. Also, another bit of 'our' history, across the other side of the Potomac River, from where I live, all I have to do is look across the River and there on the hill is Fort Washington, which was built to protect DC from the British coming down it. Lovely historic place to visit, dungeons there, old canons still mounted - presume it was left standing in case you all came back. (joking)

When I say it's a little known fact I do of course mean it's a little known fact over there. It is quite a well known fact over here. Another little known fact over there is the reason the White house is white. They had to paint it white to cover the scorch marks after we burnt it down in during the same war.
