
TO the 12th celebration in Northern Ireland, where Orangemen march, real men play the flute and all things wooden and brown are turned into an orangey ball of fire.
The parades mark the victory of the Protestant William of Orange over Catholic King James II at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690.

Banning it would be pointless, that would stir up a lot more trouble. They did try rerouting it…and all hell broke loose. The people who are doing it have no intention of stopping and just hold others to ransom to get what they want, spite is too gentle a phrase

all this posturing does nothing to help the still delicate situation in Northern Ireland.
the marches should be banned, no matter which side they represent - they are not about celebrating a 300yr old victory, but more like sticking 2 fingers up at the other side - a fragile peace indeed.
they have no need to march through the Loyalist areas, they do it out of spite…
