we hired one for my dad for when he came up to visit us and he absolutely loved it - he was all over the village like a rash, particularly in the direction of the pub and the garage where he got his morning paper.
he drives a car when he’s at home and to be honest, as he is now quite frail, I would rather he was on one of these scooter things on a pavement than in a car on the road.
however, I agree with you Dr E, that they should have to take a driving test before being allowed out (same for bloody caravan-pulling drivers but don’t get me started….).
…we set up some cones and made him do a few figure of 8’s and emergency stops before we let him loose on the general public…!!

June, my Nana wanted one and we said, “No”, she just wasn’t capable. Fortunately she never got as far as geting one of those nice young men in from the mobility shop. Although we lost track of how much money she sent to various bastards claiming she’d won a lottery, holiday, etc. Bless her. About half the Island seem to have a blue badge or a mob. scooter and when they get up/out they can barely walk. I timed one getting into his car last week. 78 seconds! (ish)

Ah shit, just checked and she’s died.Me and me big gob. (www.iwcp.co.uk). But they have got the fella who “did” it. (Allegedly.) Every week here there’s a story about an elderly person crashing, usually an automatic car into a shop window. And, yes, once it was an Opticians! Should they have to take a “driving test” before being allowed one of these scooters, I wonder?

Every other person in Sandown is on one of them bloody things. It’s like God’s waiting erm….town. Shaw Taylor lives here now, I wonder if we can get him to “Keep em peeled”. (Unless David Icke knows where he is, he seems to know everything…)
