What for the film?
Private detectives hired by Madeleine McCann’s parents want to trace a “Victoria Beckham lookalike” with an Australian or New Zealand accent. The woman is being sought because of something she said to two British men who met her in Barcelona three days after Madeleine went missing.
And this is what passes for not only news but for evidence. Cynics will point out that at least a link to a top celebrity will keep Our Maddie high in the internet search results.
“Victoria Beckham ” is understood to have an Australian or New Zealand accent. And a questionable singing voice.

Lyn, the latest lead has been carried on our news in the US. I don’t understand where anyone can get a *edit* out of their search and following every lead - no matter how strong or weak it may be. They are desperate, as all parents are whose child has gone missing, to find their child and would move heaven and hell if they could to find her.

A guy on his brother’s stag weekend in Barcelona is out drinking until 2am when he sees a skinny woman looking ‘agitated’. He decides to approach her and she says something which, two years later, he feels may be of interest to the inquiry.
And for this they invite the world’s media?
By the way, at the end of the press conference Mitchell states that Edgar has been in contact with this witness, which Edgar then denies, saying that all contact has been done through another member of the ‘investigation team’.
They’re all over the shop.

It may well be just another wild goose chase; yet they didn’t release any information as to how they found out about the two British men who claimed to talk to the unknown woman or even what she allegedly said to bring suspicion …
They’ve been working very quiet since the Hewlett fiasco and may well have learned their lesson on telling too much or telling anything to the public or newspapers unless they need serious help from the public in finding someone of interest.
