Madeleine McCann: Victoria Beckham Lookalike Found
MADELEINE McCann Watch: Anorak’s at-a-glance look at Madeleine McCann in the news - Posh lookalike found, live from Barcelona and the Swedish ghost ship…
Daily Express (back on the front page): “MADDIE: Mystery of yacht that just vanished”
It’s the “MADDIE YACHT MYSTERY”.
No, it’s not the yacht that just vanished form the new, the Arab yacht that in June 2007 caused the Express to yell “Find the Arab’s yacht.” This is another disappearing yacht entirely:
A YACHT which left the Algarve just hours after Madeleine McCann disappeared has vanished without trace, the Daily Express can reveal. The luxury Swedish cruiser sailed out of the Portuguese harbour at Portimao on May 4, 2007, the morning after four-year-old Madeleine disappeared. It has not been seen since.
Last night there was growing speculation that Madeleine might have been whisked out of Portugal on the mystery boat.
Speculation like:
It is possible Madeleine could have been abducted on the orders of a childless couple, desperate to have a family, and taken to Barcelona to meet her new “parents”…
And the mystery yacht?
In Sweden all vessels measuring over 12 metres (40ft) long must be registered with the Swedish Maritime Administration. But inquires with their head office in Stockholm yesterday found no record of the yacht.
You don’t suppose… No, it’s too far-fetched. Well, you don’t suppose the mystery yacht was smaller than 12 metres long?
Daily Star: “Maddie: Was she on boat?”
The Swedish boat or the Arab boat? The jet ski?
MADDIE: RIDDLE OF AUSSIE ‘GHOST SHIP’
DETECTIVES hunting for Madeleine McCann were last night trying to trace a multi-million-pound power boat. The high-speed craft flying the Australian flag was moored yards from the spot where a nervous Posh Spice lookalike asked a Brit: “Are you here to deliver my daughter?’’
Oh, yes the Aussie Posh, who might be a Kiwi and an Aussie boat. Two plus two equals…
The Sun: “Maddie: Hunt for Aussie boat”
ALEX WEST is in Barcelona looking for a woman who might have been ther two years ago…
The unnamed multi-million pound 105ft powerboat - which was registered Down Under - remained in the Port Olimpic marina in Barcelona, Spain, for just three days. Records show it arrived just hours before the woman - said to look like Posh Spice Victoria Beckham - approached a British man there and asked about the child. It is believed she mistook him for a “courier
Not unnamed, Alex - you just don’t know the boat’s name. There is a difference.
Daily Mirror: “Hundreds of clues on Maddy efit”
Hundreds of people yesterday contacted British detectives seeking a woman who could have ordered the kidnap of Madeleine MCann…. Clarence Mitchell, spokesman for Madeleine’s parents, said: “There has a been a big response worldwide. Kate and Gerry are very encouraged. Some have named names.”
Dannii Minogue? Ricky Ponting? Peter Andre?
Daily Mirror: “Maddy e-fit appeal gets 600 replies”
New Zealand Herald: “NZ police open to helping in Madeleine case”
New Zealand police are open to helping international authorities investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann but have received no requests for assistance.
Spokesman Grant Ogilvie said police were aware of developments in the case of the missing British girl through foreign media, who have reported a possible link in the case to Australia or New Zealand…
Mr Ogilvie said New Zealand police were open to help but had not been approached by Interpol.
McCann family spokesman Clarence Mitchell earlier admitted new information linking a New Zealand or Australian woman to the case was vague.
Belfast Telegraph: “Lindy McDowell: Will using public as sleuths really help find Madeleine McCann?2
Somehow you doubt it’s the sort of headline to thrill the image-conscious former Posh Spice. “Victoria Beckham lookalike sought in search for Madeleine.” And in fairness to Mrs B, the photo-fit accompanying this week’s story did not exactly live up to the hype. Actually it looked more like Frank Lampard. But then, so very much of the marathon saga that is the disappearance and search for Madeleine McCann has turned out to be something short of what we have been primed to expect.
The latest arguido/witness/possibly entirely irrelevant passer-by is said to be Australian. Maybe. Or perhaps from New Zealand.
… Does the photo-fit look like Victoria Beckham? Or just another red herring?
Brisbane Times: “McCann-linked woman may have been found
An Australian woman believed to hold vital clues to the disappearance of missing British child Madeleine McCann may have been found…
“On Friday afternoon, a Sydney woman provided a formal statement to detectives at a Sydney police station,” a NSW police spokesman told AAP.
“She claims to know the identity of the woman, being sought by the private investigators attached to the McCann family.
“NSW police force will forward the information received to the Australian Federal Police (AFP) for follow up.”
Has anyone thought to interview Victoria Beckham?
As Anorak predicted it’s the Third Summer of Our Maddie - a media/PR event delayed by the death of Michael Jackson. Now, though, the story is running…

Sussex Mike..I agree with you but I think the most important night in question is the evening of Tuesday the 1st May…Mrs Fenns Police Statement…Maddie was said to be screaming and sobbing Daddy Daddy from 10.30 until 11.45….
Also police statement from the files from the waiter…a couple of men were looking in the bushes around 9.30..when asked’ was told a child is missing….

I find it strange that people say don’t keep going back to the fact Madeleine and the twins were left alone.
This is the one area that we should keep going back to.
This is the area of most confusion with regards the timeline of checks.
This is the area that there has been a reluctance by those involved to take part in a reconstruction.
To this day this is the part of what happened that night that still holds many many questions.
I am certainly not convinced that what we have been told happened with regard checks was truely accurate therefore if those facts are not 100% then the investigation was compromised from day one.

Two quotes from Sky news page a couple of days ago.
“The Wyllie family appreciates that the McCann family needs to pursue every possible inquiry and will co-operate with police investigators to confirm any facts.”
McCann family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “We are grateful to the Wyllie family for clarifying their position.
“Our investigators have spoken to some of the crew members at the time, and we are very grateful to them for their assistance in this matter.”
———————————————————————————————————————
So….very reasonable and sensible all round; as opposed to some of the hysteria we’ve seen in the media and ridiculous suspicions, accusations and conspiracy theories being hurled at the Wyllie family and/or the McCanns.

Apparently (a few minutes research reveals) 7 grams is approx a QUARTER of an ounce seemingly known on the street as a Quarter.
A “Quarter” rhyming slang “Daughter”
I don’t think Posh lookalike was looking to take delivery of a quarter of an ounce of ready rubbed pipe “baccy” somehow

Don’t you just “LOVE” anorak’s take on the pathetic attempts at journalism today
August 9th, 2009 at 10:18 pm

Chenier, now really please don’t put words in my mouth or even presume I wish to forget they left the wee ones alone. What I feel is unnecesary is for everyone to keep throwing/bringing that up two years later. No one will ever forget those children were alone when one went missing - least of all them! But why muddy the waters by everyone bringing that up two years later when the focus should be on somehow, someway find that little child.
I can get on my bandwagon of about two years ago once the little one went missing what d***head I have always strongly felt and still do screwed up the chance to find her! In fact, she wasn’t truly searched for then by those who should have been searching within an hour after she was reported missing, now was she!

Cheryl
Good to see you!
I think that however much you personally wish to forget the fact that they left 3 young children alone with no adult to care for them, paediatricians are not going to forget it.
This is hardly surprising, given that they have to deal with the end results of people irresponsible enough to have done that…

Hi everyone.
Someone please get me up to speed on this. The dynamic duo are now looking for a 105′ motor boat as being the new likely suspect?
Would it have even fitted in the pool I wonder.
August 8th, 2009 at 11:11 pm
Cheryl, my post to you seems to have got lost in cyberspace. The Chamberlain case was really trial by media to cut a long story short. Lindy appeared on TV and did not come across well. She also looked “odd” and said some “odd” things. Only when Azaria’s clothing was found by the father while he was photographing the area, did Lindy get out. So much for jurors though, when one came forward and admitted she had been swayed against her better judgement. Shudder. Personally, the McCanns would be better shutting up and getting on with the job quietly, of finding Madeleine.
August 8th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
Dr Eggman, many people leave their children in their car even very briefly while they run into the store. Around here you see that alot, especially at the 7-11, which only takes seconds to walk into, front all glass so people glance out and look at their car. Yet, quite a few times you read in the paper about a young mother quickly ran into a convenience store and someone jumps in her car with intent solely to hi-jack that car and the child is in the back seat. Now, three times in DC that has had happy endings, as the dishonest but honest hi-jackers have stopped and put the child out safely on a side walk and continued on with the car.
Yet, if someone is truly after a child they’ll find a way to get one. You also have the Black Market that deals in finding made to order children.
Some parents don’t seem to realize you can’t do stupid things so to make it easy for someone to take your child.
So it is not beyond the realm of possibilty Madeleine McCann was taken as a made to order child. But I don’t hold out much hope on that as being the scenario.
August 8th, 2009 at 10:32 pm
The Chamberlain case was an odd case. Only when the husband at the time found some clothes belonging to the child, were steps taken to release Mrs Chamberlain. Again, Ms Chamberlain went on TV a lot and did herself much harm. Says a lot for jurors though, when later on someone admitted they had followed everyone else, despite having misgivings herself. Perhaps the McCanns could just shut up and get on with the job of searching. Detectives don’t tell everyone what they are doing.
August 8th, 2009 at 9:58 pm
Cheryl, if only that were true, that people would stop and think before leaving their kids out of sight. I live in a fairly low crime area but am astonished how many people leave their kids in the car whilst they go in a garage or outside shops, in the play area of a pub, etc, etc. Probably the very same people who would slag off other people for being bad parents!
August 8th, 2009 at 9:25 pm
two years is a long time Cheryl. Unfortunately its just the mentality of some people.

I was quoting Cheniers quote to Robert - a bit misleading I know.
August 8th, 2009 at 9:14 pm
Bat E Bird, I meant by that statement to quit shoving it down their throats in every other comment made. Yes, it was wrong in the public’s eye and they paid a very dear price for that mistake but everyone constantly harping on it is not going to change what happened nor help find their daughter alive or otherwise. Now, it may well have and most likely has made many other parents out there who have left their children alone stop and think twice. Every time the fact they left their children unattended is pointed out, it only fuels the fire of the public against them. Two years in my mind is a hell of a long time to punish someone or keep fueling the fires of anger or even hatred against them for a very serious mistake they made and suffered horrible consequences from it..
August 8th, 2009 at 9:05 pm
Yet again, I find myself wondering whether ’twas a good idea to make the new leads public and also question what sort of a twit decides two years after the event to report that a woman asked “Have you got my new daughter?” I get this feeling every time there’s a new “lead”, but let’s hope this IS the one.
Mr Wood from Scotland, two words. Shipman and Harold.
Not that I’m suggesting the McCanns are in anyway like Dr Evil, of course. He was 100% bastard.

Robert
It would be nice if all doctors were paragons of virtue, but they are not. You appear to believe that grossly irresponsible behaviour on the part of parents is in some way excused if it results in injury or even the death of the child.
————————–
Injury? death? What are talking about? She’s missing. Noone knows where she is.
I’m surprised your assumptions haven’t been moderated.
I would have thought time out would have helped you to find some compassion in that vindictive body of yours………………….obviously not.
Welcome back you miserable old moo.

“People keep referring back to well they left their children alone…that is beating a dead horse, that happened two years ago and now time moves on and they still search for their missing daughter with hope in their hearts.”
I’m sorry Cheryl, I have to disagree with you on this one.
It doesn’t matter how long ago it happened, they still did it and it’s still very, very wrong. Whether or not their daughter disappeared, they still should not have done what they did and nothing at all can change that.
Also, before the “we’ve all done it” brigade start, no we all haven’t.
August 8th, 2009 at 7:44 pm
Robert Wood, I have noted Trismegistus’ so ‘very thoughtful’ suggestion you might want to seek ‘anger management’! When I read what you wrote it appeared to come from the heart and deep emotions, have you and your wife been through the anguish the McCann’s are going through right now? What is written on here at times brings great anger out in people who have walked in the McCanns shoes.
Or are you parents who love your children very much and can only imagine the hell they are going through and as kind people do feel compassion for any parent who loses their child?
All of these people on here who condemn the McCanns have obviously never walked in their shoes. Gods forbid they ever do but if they do they’ll hope those who have or haven’t will feel compassion for them!
August 8th, 2009 at 7:18 pm
Chenier, also happy to see you back.
However, Chenier, I fear I am in disagreement with your statement alluding to their leaving a 3 year old to babysit two year olds. I don’t recall their saying that was their intent - in fact, if one recalls they put all three children to bed and the families made plans to check on their respective children at set intervals.
Now, we all have agreed on that issue that we feel it was neglect; but yet if you’ll recall it has been said that is a part of a babysitting service that some resorts offer to have staff go by and listen at the door to check on children. Further, that was not the first time people have ever left their children alone in their rooms on a holiday. In fact, I recall quite clearly of posters on the site talking about the people in the UK known to leave their children in their rooms and go down to pubs. In fact, people unfortunately do that world-wide when even at home not realizing the many dangers of wee ones left alone.
People keep referring back to well they left their children alone…that is beating a dead horse, that happened two years ago and now time moves on and they still search for their missing daughter with hope in their hearts.
August 8th, 2009 at 7:10 pm
Robert - perhaps you should seek some anger management?

Robert

It isn’t.
And if you wish for expert medical advice on this topic I suggest you consult paediatricians, who have strong views on leaving a 3 year old to babysit two year olds…
August 8th, 2009 at 5:15 pm
Robert Wood, I agree with you totally and, further, if they ever go through what the McCanns are going through, but hopefully for just a short time of worry, they’ll eat humble pie.
Appreciate the all CAPS with my eyesight but unfortunately that is looked on as shouting.
August 8th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
Lyn, you are from Australia, aren’t you? If I’m not mistaken and you are, I would think you of all people would be leary of passing judgement on the McCanns and helping keep the lynch mob fast on their trail by some postings you make.
This case smells exactly like the that infamous case in Australia in 1982, world-wide known and followed - The Chamberlain Case - when the people cried out for the mother’s and father’s blood for what- killing her baby? In fact, if you read the case carefully, and any one who hasn’t I suggest you do, you might even recognize the same characteristics in a more recent investigator of two years ago that were in the police/prosecutor in the Chamberlain case. Frankly, you read the case and what those Aussies did to that family so sure they knew they did it you might even recognize yourselves.

MY WIFE AND I, THINK YOU ARE ALL VERY SICK, AND SHOULD SEEK MEDICAL HELP IF YOU EVEN KNEW A TINY BIT OF AGONY GERRY AND KATE ARE GOING THROUGH, LOSING A CHILD THEY LOVE AND ADORE. REMEMBER THIS, AS DOCTORS THEY SWORE ON OATH TO HELP THE SICK AND ALLEVIATE PAIN AND PRESERVE LIFE WHERE POSSIBLE. GET EDUCATED THOSE WHOM ARE DOUBTING THE GENUINENESS OF THIS LOVELY CARING COUPLE. AND GET A LIFE AS AT THE MOMENT AS YOU ARE THE ONES WHO SHOULD NOT BE PUT IN PRISON, BUT CARSTAIRS, FOR THE MENTALLY UNSTABLE.
A VERY ANGRY, ROBERT AND ELEANOR, FROM MUSSELBURGH, SCOTLAND.

Come on, people; take another look at the sketch and the answer is blindingly obvious: it’s Servalan, President of the Terran Federation, Ruler of the High Council, Lord of the Inner and Outer Worlds, High Admiral of the Galactic Fleets, Lord General of the Six Armies, and Defender of the Earth, who would have had no difficulty whatsoever in getting just about anyone off-planet.
The only thing that doesn’t fit is the bit about her looking nervous…
August 8th, 2009 at 11:20 am
Gee that was quick. New on TV one moment and woman probably found the next day. How good is that. Photofit two years old too. Pull the other leg.
