Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi Dies
ON the Anorak forums, convicted mass murderer Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi, of Lockerbeie infamy, has only a few months to live. But we can reveal that has already died.
The body is in hiding:
Only one doctor said the Lockerbie bomber had three months to live and it may turn out Scottish Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill was taking advice from an unqualified medic employed by the Libyans.
What say the others?
Dr Richard Simpson – also a Labour member of the Scottish Parliament – accused Scottish Justice Minister Kenny MacAskill of failing to conduct sufficient checks before deciding to release the terminally-ill bomber, convicted of killing 270 people in the terror attack on Pam Am Flight 103 in December 1988.
Dr Simpson said: “It is clear to me from the medical reports and the opinion of the specialists that Megrahi could live for many more months.” - Daily Express
And:
Ali al-Megrahi also revealed that the disease which his son is suffering from is not as dangerous as some in the media are portraying it, saying “he was diagnosed with cancer less than a year ago, and we would bring him medicinal herbs from the Chinese herb market in Britain, he was also treated with other medicine in prison in Scotland.” Al-Megrahi senior added “a relative was diagnosed with a similar disease [prostate cancer] and he was treated and recovered completely. We hope that Abdul-Basset recovers his health as well.” - AAWSat
If Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi can find the cure for cancer he might yet be saved.
Perhaps we won’t know how long Megrahi has to live until he actually dies, but I suspect we have a better idea of how long the Scottish government will survive. I’m betting Megrahi outlives their current administration - Ed Morrissey

Mr Megrahi did not need to drop his appeal, it had and has no effect on release on compassionate grounds.
The question being asked here is why did Mr Megrahi drop his appeal, and to the benefit of whom, for it was of no benefit to Mr Megrahi.
Scottish justice is a seperate entity from the rest of the UK, if a crime falls within its remit it has total autonomy over the proceedings, despite what the English press is reporting, if the Scottish government decided a Judiciary review is required into this whole sorry affair, there will be one, irrespective of what outside sources claim, these outside sources by their willingness to participate willingly, will I suggest tell its own story.

You have very valid points, Gandolf. However, Megrahi dropped his Appeal and instead filed for a Compassionate Release, which was granted. If his Appeal had been heard and the facts presented, as known, odds are he would have won his Appeal. However, now he stands guilty of the crime he was convicted of. Who would now call for a Public Inquiry and on what grounds? I’m not saying for a second one should not be held but facts are there is a man convicted of that crime. How could you circumvent that when asking for a Public Inquiry? Could his Appeal be refiled and evidence presented that would possibly exonerate him and thus open the door for a new Investigation or as you call it a Public Inquiry? I don’t know your laws over there. In dropping his Appeal and instead filing for Compassionate Release, which he was granted, did he give up his rights to appeal his conviction?

This whole affair is about Justice, nothing more nothing less. Justice is supposed to be impartial, but as we all know that impartiality is not decided by Judges or juries, it is decided by politicians or other government agencies, with the cover of “Not in the public Interest”.
The victims of Lockerbie, their families nor the world at large will know or see Justice to be done until a full and Public inquiry brings those who have pissed on the truth, and denied Justice to the victims and their families, to full and culpable account.

Gandolf, I am well aware of the Scottish history over here. Alexandria, where I reside, was settled by the Scots and we have celebrated that history for many, many years the first weekend in December with great festivities and the Scots come from around the US and some have come from Scotland. We’ve had dignitaries come from Scotland to honor and celebrate with us. Scottish men in their kilts and bagpipes playing, quite a delight. The Scottish people are not being blamed for MacAskil’s decision, to the best of my knowledge, Gandolf. That would be grossly unfair.

You need not worry who, what or why I am, just be certain that Scotland is not populated by windylickers or fukwits, you should know we built America.

Washington Post not publishing information exposing the Government for any dirty deeds because it would be ‘bad for their health’? Are you speaking of the same Washington Post who had two reporters they let run with their stories, knowing the shite it could bring down on them, and they brought down a President of the United States, who resigned from office in disgrace, and some of his staff went to prison? Give me a break, Gandolf. Most major newspapers over here have balls made of iron! We have freedom of speech and press, Gandolf. They threaten major papers like the Post and others it would be like waving a red flag at a bull - it charges right at you!
How can it be dumped at the door of the White House? Obama just got in office. Rate the new Admiistration has been exposing the Republicans for dirty deeds, if what you proclaim with such certainty is true then it will be exposed. However, what you are linking to on here is all unfounded rumours, speculations, self-serving, pointing the finger by one country onto another, and some not even new or surprising to read. As for where that bomb was truly put on, I suspected it was put on in the UK moment I read in the reports the baggage department at Pan Am at Heathrow had been broken into many hours before the plane was to take off. Any terrorist could have done that, Gandolf, let’s not forget the UK is known for harboring terrorists and most have real hatred for the US. Something to do with your laws on human rights or whatever that you give those murderers safe-keeping?
For the record, Gandolf, I’m the last person who would claim our Intelligence Agencies are above sin! However, you are throwing shite our way without hard proof to back it up. Should I think you are hate mongering against the US or just a rumour monger?

No, oil and gas deals were done with an AMERICAN company Exonn.

How the plot thickens.

But Oil deals were not made between Scotland and Libya. And if you had half a clue about UK politics you would realise that relations are not so cordial between the SNP Govt in Scotland and the Westminster establishment
But even if true, why is the US so bothered? When Pinochet was allowed back home by Jack Straw, and not given to the Spanish authorities for torture and murder, on the grounds of ill health, we didn’t have the US indignation did we? With the abuses of Pinochet, surely we should have all been up in arms? But perhaps that was because so many of your neo-conservatives earned bucketloads from the misery of your average Chilean.
But then your average Chilean is not a US citizen. We should have a published pecking order, just so that we all know where we stand
The soap box is slippery.

You do not appear to like links which call your less than white security services into question, perhaps you can tell us why American news sources, even ones as august and widely respected as the Washington Post are and have been actively discouraged, bad for your health is the notional phrasing, I believe, from even mentioning the name Abu Elias. The shit is about to be dumped make no mistake, on the doorstep of the whitehouse. Let’s not beat about the bush, it has serious previous .

Gandolf, that is the second time you have posted that garbage from that blog site, which has the following disclaimer:
“Disclaimer: the posting of stories, commentaries, reports, documents and links (embedded or otherwise) on this site does not in any way, shape or form, implied or otherwise, necessarily express or suggest endorsement or support of any of such posted material or parts therein.”
You are hell bent on dumping the shite squarely on the US! Why so intent on shifting the focus, Gandolf? You a member of the Scottish Government and trying to keep the real truth hidden thinking we don’t know that it was pure BS MacAskil tried to feed us as to why Megrahi was released ?
Very simple, Gandolf. Three Scottish judges found him guilty. Far beit from me to state on here my thoughts that was a ‘dirty’ guilty verdict. You’d be screaming to the high heavens high dare I make such slurs about Scottish judges. However, there are alleged facts, statements, evidence, etc that may well prove he is not guilty of the crime three Scottish Judges in their infinite wisdom(?) ruled he was. Fine, then he should have carried through with an Appeal and had all the evidence produced to prove his innocence beyond a doubt.
However, it seems there are what: oil deals made between the UK and Libya? Further, there are rumors rambant that Megrahi was part of the deal? So what happens? All of a sudden it is ‘diagnosed’ Meghrai is going to die within 3 months. His Appeal is dropped and he files for a Compassion Release and bingo! that kind-hearted MacAskil so proud of that Scottish Compassion sends the dear soul home to die and to be greeted like a hero upon his stepping off the plane in his own country!

Perhaps you should have a look at the specialist Anorak, http://www.karolsikora.com/, also the medical records available in the Lockerbie papers at the Scottish Parliament. The more that this action by the Scottish Government is attacked, the more important the name of http://aangirfan.blogspot.com/2009/08/reportedly-khaisar-haddad-known-as-abu.html
