Madeleine McCann Spotted In Devon, Man Questioned By Police
MADELEINE McCann Watch: Anorak’s at-a-glance look at Madeleine McCann in the news - THE Media’s third summer of Madeleine McCann was stymied by Michael Jackson’s death, bad weather and Katie Price. Even Victoria Beckham could not reignite the craze. But then Jaycee Lee Dugard was found and, well, the papers made the link and this happened…
STUNNED Jon Hazlehurst and his eight-year-old stepdaughter were quizzed by cops after she was mistaken for Madeleine McCann. A member of the public raised the alarm when she spotted them at a petrol station and thought blonde Lauren was missing Maddie.
And… Is it here? The Sun says…
She jotted down Jon’s car details and dialled 999 and officers went straight to his home nearby in Kingsbridge, Devon. There they found his stepson Jack, 15, who gave them Jon’s mobile number and police told him to immediately report to the local nick.
Because…
Jon, a fire protection officer, said: “They said someone had seen me with a girl who looked like Madeleine McCann. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing - I thought it was a prank before I realised that they were quite serious. But they told me to come to the police station with Lauren, so I went and picked her up from her friend’s house and we drove there straight away.”
Such is the threat of being labelled a paedo. Says Jon:
“A lot of people have said she does look like her, I can see it, she does have a similar frame and hair, but her eyes are different. But I was just really surprised throughout the whole thing - I felt a bit uncomfortable because I hadn’t done anything wrong.”
Hey, no smoke without fire. That’s how the media whispering machine works. But why tell the Sun?
“There’s always a chance a tip-off like that might lead them to Madeleine.”
And there always Jaycee Lee Dugard:
He said: “In a way it proves people are still vigilant about Maddie - people should still be on the lookout for her. People do turn up years later. It happened last week when Jaycee Lee Dugard turned-up in the States. It can happen.”
It’s every parent’s worst nightmare:
“As a parent it doesn’t bear thinking about one of your children going missing, I just can’t imagine how awful that out of control, powerless feeling must be. This is reassuring in a way that people are still looking for Madeleine.”
And people think you’re a kidnapper.
Madeleine McCann - Still missing…

I agree it’ surprising the papers published the child’s picture. She is with her stepfather in the ones I’ve seen. Maybe he was quite happy to have the photo taken and/or used? The little girl might be excited to see herself in the papers! Kids often are.
Anyway, the stepfather seems quite sensible about it all. He said he was “more surprised than anything” and added, according to Herald Express, Devon,
“The police were very polite and I understood that they had to follow up the lead, even if it didn’t come to anything. There’s always a chance a tip-off like that might lead them to Madeleine.”

How ironic. On the Sun’s website, the page carrying this story has an advert for a well known optician……

The seargent who handled this case must be the only one on the planet who does not know of madeleines eye defect. His comment they do look alike but have differnt colour eyes. Mccanns Logo “LOOK into my eyes” and being asked not to release her eye defect as it could sign her death warrant… mccanns reply to this “we knew what they may do to her eye, but it was a good marketing ploy”
Lauren does have the same mouth as the aged madeleine. The aged madeleine is never shown in the british press, only the cute picture of maddie around the pool.
Therefore where did this unknown witness see this aged picture, did she buy a travel pack? Are there posters of madeleine aged everywhere in Devon? No mention of this .
