Private Kevin Elliott’s Funeral Dress
PRIVATE Kevin Elliott, 24, of the Black Watch, arrives at Barnhill Cemetery in Dundee. He died on duty in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, on August 31.
His best friend dressed in a bright green dress and pink leg warmers to honour an agreement that the two of them had made should one of them die.
Dress and T-shirts have become a way to mourn the dead, and remember.

But haven’t we all said stupid things about funerals? I’ve asked for all manner of silly songs and burial places over the years but I didn’t really mean it I don’t think. Now, as the time grows nearer I’m a bit more restrained.
LedZep’s Stairway to Heaven, everyone in black clothes and real mourning over the tea and cucumber sandwiches afterwards.
Joking apart I just feel for the family who I’m sure didn’t want to be amused but would have felt unable to protest…. IMO

They had an agreement that whoever didn’t die first wore a frock to the others funeral, I don’t think any disrespect was intended, just a very quirky agreement kept.
All the maudlin sobs and angsts etc started at Diana’s funeral; strange thing is that the truly grief striken are very quiet and dignified and supportive of each other when burying their dead

So often now behaviour at funerals is IMO disrespectful of the dead and the close family.
I’m tired of the self-indulgent grief-fest of hangers on and attention seekers that seems to be the way of so many funerals now.
Wooten Bassett has now been taken over by these people and the old soldiers who lined the streets head bowed in silent respect as the coffins passed by have been pushed aside by flower throwing hysterical ‘friends’ clapping and wailing.
Yuk!
