Singing in front of a large audience is hardly faking it.
Unlike most singers today, she didn’t lip sync, and most of the guest performers for AGT were also pre-taped.
Why not mention that?
Oh, I know why, because it’s only Susan’s name that draws readers.
Get your facts straight, isn’t that one of the first rules of journalism?
Oh wait, that would, that wouldn’t pertain to a rag.

Finally,… should have mentioned..

AGT uses a graphic that says “live” on performances that are occur during the live telecast. The pretaped performances have no graphic.

The show makes no attempt to suggest that the performances are live and, because of the graphic, it’s clear when they’re not.

I’m interested in this cultural divide. American (and Canadian) media is very supportive of Susan Boyle while the only critical comments have come from her own country.

There is a picture of Susan Boyle on Splash Mountain in The Sun - with a title “I Screamed a Scream.”

Susan Boyle pretaped her performance the day before along with Shakira, Leona Lewis and Cirque. It is AGT’s custom to pretape most guest performers in order to save set-up and break-down time. In Susan’s case, the time to set up the risors and orchestra, and then tune the orchestra, was prohibitive.

It was widely publicized that all of these acts would tape a day early, as tickets were advertised for the taping. Mariah Carey, Terry Fator and numerous others previously pretaped their performances. Susan performed in front of a packed audience of 500. She sang live, straight through with no edits, according to fans who blogged and tweeted about it.

And, hey, I like Dumbo.

(but seriously, this was the day before she performed and day after she arrived. she couldn’t very well spend that entire day on the big rides.)
