Face Of Tesco’s Is Illegal Immigrant

by | 27th, September 2009

fatou-chamTESCO worker Fatou Cham, 32, face of the store’s Florence and Fred, came to the UK from Gambia in 1998 on a student visa but stayed after it expired in 2001.

To help our the border police, Tesco stuck a label on Ms Cham’s head:

“Designed by F&F. Priced by Tesco. Modelled byFatou, checkout number 6, Tesco, east London.”

Any more clues, needed, lads?

Immigration officers questioned Miss Cham at her home in East Ham, London. Her solicitor Jamil Trawally tells the Sunday Mirror:

“It is not as though she tried to avoid the authorities because she applied to stay. I am sure she was brought to the attention of the police because of the Tesco campaign.”

Says Miss Cham:

I came here for a better life and never set out to deceive anyone. I just want to stay here with my family and be happy.”

We offer no comment on there case. But the most interesting part of this story is how a woman who studied banking, economics and finance at London Metropolitan University end up working on a check out in Tesco.

That should deter anyone else from bothering with further education…
