Madeleine McCann: Kate McCann Runs For Charity
THE Express continues to feature the search for Madeleine McCann by focusing on Kate McCann, one person we know had nothing to do with the child’s vanishing.
Such is the state of investigative journalism, the Express leads with a picture of Kate McCann in a singlet with a picture of Our Maddie on the front, and the headline:
KATE McCann runs for Madeleine
KATE MCCANN ran into action yesterday to keep the search for her missing daughter Madeleine in the spotlight.
Job done. The Express and the McCanns are now working in tandem - front-page new and front-chest views.
But is Our Mddie still a big story?
The 41-year-old wore a white vest with a picture of Madeleine on the front and the words “Don’t give up on me” as she participated in the Great Kibworth run near her home in Leicestershire.
The Daily Telegraph takes up the baton:
Mrs McCann, a keen runner, finished a third of a marathon, in support of one of her favoured charities Macmillan Cancer Support…
They were joined by friends including Fiona Payne – a member of the Tapas Seven group of key witnesses in the disappearance of the toddler.
During her Portugal visit Mrs McCann told reporters she cried every day for her daughter and remains determined to “find her and bring her home”.
Later, speaking about the visit, she said: “I think it was a positive move and it actually felt good to be there. I actually felt there was a bit of support for us there now so that helps. Fingers crossed this is the turning point. We’ve had a lot of information come in even this far down the line, there are various reasons why they don’t come forward in the early days.”
Madeleine McCann is missing - but not from the media…

Another cheap publicity stunt again by team Mccann, you would be forgiven in thinking Ma**ie is the only missing child on the planet, well, Kate can run, but, she can’t hide!

I can only say………what a sad observation by you.
It was a fun run for charity in her own county of Leicestershire.
Her daughter is still missing.
I’m sure the MacMillan charity will not begrudge Kate for her efforts and I’m sure the charity won’t loose any donations as a result.
The only people who may loose a little sleep over this are those with tiny minds and who are prejudiced against the McCanns.
A little compassion along with some fresh air is needed. End of.

I don’t care what the McCanns are doing to find their daughter what I took exception to and still do is their hijacking of a charity event that they said they were running for Macmillan Cancer Trust.
Sure people dress up a chickens bears and all manner of other costumes, and I agree that what is important is what is on the sponsor sheet, but what they do not do and Kate McCann did was to run in the race promoting a totally different cause to the one that they were supposed to be promoting.
I ask if there is a rise in donations to their company after this weekends publicity will Macmillan cancer trust benefit from that money?
“What is it with people who show nothing but contempt towards an ordinary English couple who are trying everything they possibly can to find the whereabouts of their little girl”?
Garth I do not intend to get into a discussion with you, or anybody else, over how and when the McCanns have searched for their missing daughter. But I will ask this of you if this was a legitimate vehicle to raise awareness of their missing daughter why was Kate not running in the name of her daughter and raising money for the fund - could it be because it would not have been allowed as it would not be fundraising for a registered charity?

Other people in the run, were actually supporting a genuine charity and a very worthy cause too.

……..and I’m not surprised!
What is it with people who show nothing but contempt towards an ordinary English couple who are trying everything they possibly can to find the whereabouts of their little girl?
That’s the type of people that disgust me.

Methinks you’re clutching at straws now Scotfree to knock the McCanns at any cost!
In the various marathons we see all manner of clothing/outfits with no sign of sponsorship. Check out the footage of the London marathon, its all online.
Big teddy bears, policemen in tights, St trinians, celebrities and assorted serious runners with just the number on their vest Some publicise their cause others don’t. Its the money raised on their sponsor forms that counts and if MacMillan was designated then thats where it goes via paypal nowadays!
And of course if missing Madeleine gets some more publicity into the bargain then thats brilliant.
I think accusations of ‘defrauding’ and ‘defaming’ are just plain silly.

Cheryl it was a charity run that we are told she was running to support Macmillan Cancer Trust - where was the endorsement of the charity where was the visible support for the charity she said that she was running to raise money and awareness of?
The people that were running for Macmillan that had pictures on their vests would have been of loved ones that had died of cancer that they were running in their name to further research into cancer.
This is not a rant against the McCanns and all that they stand for but rather a hijacking of a well respected charity that needs all the support that it can get so that it’s nurses can give the care to the families and their relatives that are dying a horrible death care and respect at the end of their lives.
So no she did not have the right to wear what she wanted in the run. If she is supporting the charity she promotes their cause, she most defiantly does not abuse the charity run to further her own agenda.
I am disgusted.

Scotfree, she was running to support the Mcmillan Cancer charity. Why couldn’t she wear what she wanted when running? Stretches ones imagination to see anything sinister or wrong in that.
Yes, some people took great delight in finding wrong when she and Gerry went running days after their daughter went missing. Yet, one forgets that not only is running or jogging healthy it can also be very therapeutic for one’s mind. They were under an horrendous emotional stress at that time - so they were suppose to do what? Sit and get lost in their grief? Punch holes in the walls out of frustration, great anger and grief? Buy a bottle of liquor and sit and drown their sorrows? They took the intelligent route.

Far be it from me to espouse a theory on this case, as we all know they are banned, but do people think that the Express, a fine upstanding organ of truth in the British establishment, are in reality not doing the McCann case any real good.
Conspiracy theorists have been going wild with the articles printed over the last few weeks that according to them have a deeper hidden meaning that is counter to the script that British newspapers are meant to follow. If this is the case is the present article in the same model as it would appear not to do the cause very much good. Yes it does keep the story on the front page, but is the picture of Kate running a fitting image. The last time we saw Kate and Gerry running it was in PdL only days after their daughter went missing and it generated a lot of negative publicity, two years on we still have Kate running to keep her daughter in the news. If only I was a conspiracy theorist!
The only serious thing that I would like to ask is if Kate was running for Mcmillan Cancer then why is she not carrying any logo’s of material to promote the charity. Why is she running only with publicity for her daughter. Don’t get me wrong, I think that it is laudable to be seen to be supporting the search for you daughter but would it not have been more truthful if she had been running solely for her daughter and not piggybacking her own campaign on to the cancer charity that she says that she is supporting to their detriment?

Does it say how much Kate raised?
