The Times: “Letterman extortion suspect is ‘true crime’ news producer”

David Letterman has been the alleged victim of an alleged extortion plot.

The man accused of trying to blackmail the talk show host David Letterman was named today as an Emmy award-winning TV news producer who specialises in investigating “true crime” mysteries.

Such as the case of the Letterman staffer, allgedly:

Mr Halderman, 51, is a producer on the CBS news programme 48 Hours, which specialises in investigating and recreating real-life mysteries including the disappearance of Madeleine McCann and the murder of Meredith Kercher.

Two other cases yet to be solved. But so long as they’re entertaining… Who’s ready for a joke?

This is Kent: “Controversial comic Jim Jeffries heads for Canterbury”

A little bit of controversy for you there, folks…

ANY stuffy academics at the University of Kent had better brace themselves…one of the world’s most controversial comedians is on his way. Australia’s second most famous export, Jim Jeffries, will perform at the Gulbenkian Theatre on campus in November with a show that is sure to shock.

He hopes so…

Previous tours have included jokes on missing Madeleine McCann and family bereavements and he told the Times his new material would be just as close to the bone. “I’ve got a 20 minute story about taking a disabled friend to a brothel,” he said.

Being close to the bone depends on who your audience is – a joke about brothels told to rape victims, could be tried, or a joke about missing children told to their parents. Anything else just isn’t really trying. It a lame joke.

You want edgy – you can’t handle edgy…
