Matt Lucas, Elton John And Will Young Give Kevin McGee’s Life Meaning

The media looks at the short life of  Kevin McGee, with Facebook, Elton John, Matt Lucas and Will Young.

RIP Kevin McGee, better known to the media at large as “Little Britain Star Matt’s Ex Found Dead”. As Sky puts it.

Little Britain star Matt Lucas’ former civil partner has been found dead in his flat after leaving a tragic message on Facebook.

Kevin McGee did not die in vain - his death features two ticks in key story boxes: celebrity and social networking web sites.

The television producer, who “wed” Lucas, 35, in December 2006, had posted a message on Facebook three hours earlier.

It read: “Kevin McGee thinks that death is much better than life.”

Say police:

“There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent the Procurator Fiscal.”

Mr McGee married Lucas in a civil partnership ceremony and celebrated with a panto-themed reception with guests including Elton John, Will Young and Paul O’Grady.

Their relationship broke up in 2008 and their union was officially dissolved in January this year.

And now for the tin lid on a morbid story sprinkled with stardust:

Lucas is currently starring in the West End play Prick Up Your Ears in which he plays Kenneth Halliwell. The character murdered his lover, the playwright Joe Orton, before committing suicide.
