Madeleine McCann’s Parents To Make Private Trip To Praia Da Luz
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann - The Spanish news agency reports that Kate McCann and Gerry McCann could return to Praia da Luz before the end of the year.
The parents of the girl Madeleine McCann, Gerry and Kate, could return on a private visit to the Portuguese town of Praia da Luz, where their daughter disappeared before the end of the year.
Says Gerry McCann:
“Kate was like to return to Praia da Luz when things are less intense, but we would like it to be a private visit, probably before year-end.”
Telling the press might not be the best way to secure privacy. But, then, if the parents don’t tell the press they will have missed a chance to keep their daughter in the news?
By way of irony:
Mr McCann has been involved in the international conference of lawyers held at the Palacio Municipal de Congresos in Madrid, as a speaker on a panel on media and the right to privacy and reputation.
It’s the big debate. And one that looks all the more interesting in light of the hunt for that Victoria Beckham look-alike, in which names were named and, allegedly, lives and reputations hurt.
“Millionaire socialite ‘devastated’ as her £3m superyacht is linked to hunt for Madeleine McCann - Her brother Wayne McGrath told the People newspaper: ‘I have spoken to my sister and she is absolutely devastated. She doesn’t know anything about this.’
The parents are innocent. There are no suspects. Madeleine McCann is missing.

CC, respect your views but who knows? As recent events have proven, MM could very well still be with us and in the locality of PdL. I would add that I’m the most cynical bastard in the world but there’s always hope. Can’t believe she can’t spell Gerry though….

I wonder what’s going to happen to the likes of Susie Chester and her family the day reality comes crashing in?

What kind of a parent puts off finding their child, visiting the place where she was last seen, or speaking to the police if they have any other information or would it be worth while using a visit to the area to promote a reopening of the official case on the ‘abduction’ of their child until things around them were “less intense”?

Again we see Gerry planning long term, this anniversary, that anniversary, when things are less intense, maybe before the end of the year…I guess it’s implicit that he means to add “unless Maddy is found in the interim”.

I can’t imagine how painful it would be for a mother to return to where she last saw her missing child. I don’t know whether it might somehow help her to come to terms with her loss, or whether it would simply sharpen the pain. (The former certainly doesn’t seem likely in Kate’s case, from what we’ve seen.) Either way, I can see why a mother might feel she had to make that journey some day.
Some people will probably open their hearts to her.
Below is a message from the Madeleine website. Lagos is not far from Praia da Luz.
“From: Susie Chester 06/10/2009 13:04:58
Jerry and Kate, I just wanted to tell you how amazing I think you are. I cannot imagine what it feels like to be you - but you are both very, very strong people. There are LOTS of us who have not given up hope. My parents live in Lagos and they continue to try and keep Madeleine in peoples minds. People are still talking about her and posters are still up but if this ever stops then I can assure you that my family will do everything to keep the campaign going in Lagos. I think about you all most days and I really hope Maddie is found soon. Lots of love xxxx”

Three ring circus is right and this is the work of the advance man working the potential audiences teasing them to part with their admission money.
However, if this is the work of their new Portuguese publicity firms suggestion to start getting the portuguese people to love the family I think that they have contracted with another firm of duffers.

Will this three ring never end.
