Pictures Of Jacyee Dugard In People Magazine, And A Book Deal

JAYCEE Lee Dugard Watch – Anorak’s at-a-glance looks at Jaycee Dugard in the news: People magazine has published the first photographs of the adult Jaycee Dugard, and Random House secure a book deal.

That’s Jaycee smiling on the cover. She looks OK.

People spokeswoman Claudia DiRomualdo says Dugard approached the magazine with the pictures, which were taken by an independent photographer. Did they pay for the images? People will not say.

There is no interview, but Jaycee Dugard says:

“I’m so happy to be back with my family. Nothing is more important than the unconditional love and support that I have from them.”

Meanwhile, Dugard’s mother, Terry Probyn, has agreed a book deal with publisher Random House.

Inside the magazine Jaycee is riding a horse in California. Her daughters, 15-year-old Angel and 11-year-old Starlit, are in the pictures. Their faces are not. A family spokeswoman said Jaycee released the photos “to share her joy with the world and show how well she’s doing”.

Erika Schulte, a spokesman for the Dugard family, says:

“‘She just radiates. I was thrilled when I saw the photo because it was the perfect representation of what she looks like and it speaks to her joy with being with her family now and looking forward to her new life.

She’s a grown-up, she’s a mother and a sister and a daughter. And it’s amazing to just be in the presence of all of that. And if you walked into the room and didn’t know the circumstances, it would seem, I think, like any other family.”

Larry Hackett, the magazine’s managing editor, tells MSNBC:

“We have bought photographs in the past. . . I don’t want to go into the details.”

Inside the magazine, Jaycee’s mother’s stepmother Joan Curry says:

“Jaycee’s realistic. She knows this is not going to be the easiest road that she’s ever traveled, but she is just very upbeat, giddy that she’s with her family.”

A grim story with a happy ending? Or just a news cance for us to be entertained by a story of kidnap, rape and abuse?
