In Pictures: Andre Bamberski Arrested For Kidnap Of Doctor Who Killed His Daughter
ANDRE Bamberski, 71, is arrested on suspicion of kidnapping Dr Dieter Krombach, 74, and delivering him bound and gagged to a French court.
The German medic was convicted in absentia of killing Bamberkis’s daughter, Kalinka Bamberski, in 1995 and sentenced to 15 years jail.
In 1982, the girl was on a visit with her mother to Krombach home in Lindau, Germany. Krombach, a cardiologist, and Kalinka’s step-father, gave her an injection that killed her – the family belief he intended to drug her and rape her.
This is an opinion other may share – Krombach would later earn a two-year suspended sentence for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old patient he injected with anaesthetic.
So here is the good doctor no longer in Germany but trussed and bleeding from a head wound in the eastern French city of Mulhouse, near to the German border.Police receive an anonymous phone call saying where Krombach can be found.
Bamberski admits it was him who called, and the ”thick Russian accent” was a disguise.
Bamber
ski claims he was forced to act after the Germans did nothing to help him. In 1997, France issued an international warrant for Dr Krombach’s arrest. But the German authorities said due to a lack of evidence, Krombach should remain at large.
So Mr Bamberski took the matter into his own hands. Or not. His lawyer, Francois Gibault, says:
”As Dr Krombach is now in France, he will have to face French justice.”
As will Mr Bamberski.
There’s a made-for-TV movie in this…

unfortunately, the same sort of warped justice would apply if the situation happened here, ie. the dad would be charged with kidnapping and the original perpetrator becomes a “victim”…. makes no bloody sense at all and just makes people angry….
I agree with you Cheryl - the guy deserves a medal, as does the one who ensured that Polanski was apprehended in Switzerland.

There is something to be said for taking Justice into one’s own hands. France is charging the father with kidnapping? They ought to pin a medal on his chest for delivering him alive!

I’m on the Dad’s side.
