Someone made a pass at me once.
It was years ago and I've forgotten when and where.
Does this make me a lost child of my times?

Yes, some do seem to have a real hatred for men. Granted not all men are loveable but ... that is rather carrying it to the extreme.

Cheryl

It was one of the people who worked with the dog charity I was involved with.

There are people who don't see people as people, but as sexual objects. I did, on reflection, rather think this person was trying to score one off on my husband, and her amoral nature did rather put me off gays. Her hatred of men was astonishing.

I do have a few of my clients who are gay, and they are in steady relationships, BUT they do tend to want to discuss the more nitty gritty stuff than other clients do, and apart from their pets I really do not want to know...that goes for the heterosexual couples too.

June, I am surprised that the woman approached you considering you were married but not overly surprised she was vindictive on the turn down. Some women can be real bitches by nature, as I'm sure many men would attest to when getting divorced and who gets what is being decided.

Over here now sexual preference is usually not a factor in getting a position in most private industry or Congress. In fact, now many corporations' health insurance policies will permit the partner to be covered under the policy if they show they live together with intents of permanency. Example, shared bank accounts, lived together for over a year. There were many same sex preference people where I worked and other place I had worked over the years but I never saw nor heard of one approaching a heterosexual with intents. However, I did see the 'effects' of a breakup on one woman, who was in a high position, when she came to the office one morning with two black eyes and face all scratched up. Women can indeed be vindictive!

Gosh what a lot of guff. Personally the bible has no relevance in my life and I only
asked a simple question. I condemned neither transexuals nor homosexuals
only suggesting it was strange in my view to lump them together. This is because they are different from each other and heterosexuals. It is the differences that make the world go round. It does not mean I believe that any one group is better or worse or should be subject to different laws but only a fool would deny there are not differences arising from sexuality just as there are differences between genders, nationalities, religions, etc.

Cheryl

I have never had any truck with the bible, but its good manners not to flaunt ones' sexuality on strangers. Most people, like me, aren't bothered that gays are gay, but why do we have to be told on immediate first acquaintance?

Some years ago a female gay made a pass at me, which I rejected, one reason - I am not gay and she was therefore not my type and another I am already in a relationship.

If a straying male makes a pass at me ,and his advances are unwelcome, I make it very clear, and he usually gets over it, the female gay was very vindictive about being rejected despite knowing of the existence of my husband.

Clive, they shouldn't need organizations to represent them to give them the same rights that heterosexual people have or be more accepted. What causes people to look down upon those who have same sex partners or change their gender as 'different''? Because the Bible tells them so? Hell and damnation preaching preachers? Religions they are raised in? Taught to at home and in schools? The Bible and religions supposedly teach the word of a Higher Being, which people fall back on to condemn others. Yet, the bible was written by mere mortal humans supposedly based on the preachings of a Higher Being. All of the asundry religions/churches are run by mere mortal humans which preach their own interpretations of the Bible, that was written by mere mortal humans, and the religions write their own laws they expect people to adhere to, who believe in that religion.

So what does make them supposedly 'different 'from heterosexual people? They can't procreate together? Who says couples have to have children, except in that bible written by mere humans. Today more and more people are choosing not to have children. They are condemned for the intimate acts they perform together behind closed doors. Many people find the thoughts of what they do together as same sex partners disgusting. That is interesting and quite hypocritical, as the acts they have together are the same acts heterosexual people have together behind closed doors.

Moderator - thanks.
I think I was being hung out as a homophobe but in my mind, although I may have been clumsy with words used, a transexual is quite different from a homosexual.
I am aware of organisations representing "Gay, Lesbian and Transexuals" and this is what prompted my query - it is an artificial banding in my vview.
There is a popular Scottish singer who was born with male characteristics, went on
to have gender reassigned and is now regarded as a lesbian.
But maybe not !

Clive being gay IS NOT A LIFESTYLE CHOICE....! Yes i have to shout to get over the wall of ignorance on this page
People are born gay - get over it
most people in this country are mature enough to accept that
Clive being transsexual IS NOT A LIFESTYLE CHOICE.
Gender Dysphoria is a proven medical condition and if not treated can lead to severe mental illness.
If this is not the case then why is it treated on the NHS
The only known cure for people with severe gender dysphoria is reassignment
some people are trans - get over it

Moderator - perhaps read Clive's post again?

Clive, I didn't know the transexuals were 'happy' to be lumped with homosexuals as a generic band of people who are looked upon as different by those who once again judge others by what they consider the 'norm.'

There is still much debate over what causes a person be a homosexual and chose that lifestyle. Is it truly a free made choice to be of that lifestyle or it is a gene factor in many? I often hear people talk or jokes about a husband or wife who loses their spouse to a same sex person. Was it a bad marriage that drove that spouse to seek a same sex partner or was it something that was within them from birth to cause them to finally seek the same sex person?

This is a serious query.
I understand and sympathise with transexuals and accept that gender reassignment
is desirable in almost all cases.
What I do not understand is why transexuals are happy to be lumped in with gays and lesbians as a generic band of people who are different.
Their's is a gender issue while homosexuals' is a lifestyle.
Can anyone clarify for me ?

It is a pity a transexual is condemned and at times physically abused by many in the public who feel they have the right to heap abuse on those they think don't fit their idea of the norm.

I worked with a transexual and they were a very nice person. We would sit and discuss at times where we bought our clothes or what hairdressers we used but there were those who were nasty and mean and drove them to quit to escape those judgmental and narrow minded people.

If this individual's gender issue was the subject of any sort of plea of mitigation during an an open court trial then all facts are reportable.
The granting of any "gender recognition certificate" cannot assure anonymity where criminal proceedings are taking place. Trial in secret, and thence unreported, leads in very short order to tyranny and the abrogation of the Rule of Law.
I think Anorak's point here may be being totally missed. It is not commenting on the gender issue but the way that issue is being treated by others.
Incidentally, whatever gender the person happens to be, I should not like to meet them on a dark night or even a sunny summer afternoon while observing Ladies' Tennis.
Guilty as charged M'Lud and definitely in possession of something which could do others harm.
Lucky not to have been banged up in my humble opinion...but then, what do I know?

I'm not sure which is more out of place. Me being referred to as a correspondent or the Exeter Express and Echo being called a tabloid. I expect it's an unexpected honour for us both
