Teen Rapist Forgiven By Christians Rapes Boy Days Later
THE story of the 16-year-old who kidnapped and raped a five-year-old boy, eight days after avoiding custody for another rape, is one of religious conviction. Why?
Because when reviewing the teenager’s first rape, Judge Adrian Smith is reported to have considered the views of the victim’s family, who forgave the youth because of their Christian beliefs.
At Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court, the massed heard that the teenager was given a community order for the rape of a seven-year-old boy, in Tameside.
Judge Peter Lakin revoked the community rehabilitation order and resentenced him for the earlier rape.
Forgiveness is divine? Or stupid?

Sigh. The age-old confusion between condemning the ACTION but not the person.
Yes, one can ‘forgive’ a person for wrongdoing, but that does not mean that they should escape punishment - that would be to condone the action.
Amazing that m’learned m’lord couldn’t grasp this simple philosophical concept!
He might also ponder the notion, seemingly foreign to him, that to let a rapist go scott-free is not doing the offender any good. Loving kindness should not be confused with laissez-faire slackness of principle.
So there!

Hmm, given the tales one hears of the activities of certain Christian clergy, perhaps rapists might be judged by Justice alone and suitably punished as a result.
Perhaps Christians could include the criminal in their prayers, if they are so moved, or be even more moved by the plight of the victim.( it could be their turn next)
Do- gooding idiocy otherwise
