Strictly Come Dancing Fans Demand Bruce Forsyth Returns

by | 16th, November 2009

bruce-forsyth-girls1BIG news on the Daily Express’ front page is that “fans” of BBC show Strictly Come Dancing have come to bury Bruce Forsyth:

Strictly fans say Brucie’s had his day

No, scratch that. Fans are clamouring to tell the BBC that Forsyth must never ever get well enough to return to the show:

FANS JAM STRICTLY WEBSITE TO TELL BRUCIE TO STEP DOWN

The BBC may be less than upset at this, having already called Bruce Forsyth’s illness-forced withdrawal from last weekend’s show “WONDERFUL”. Instead of Forsyth, pro-celeb dance fans made do with Claudia Winkleman, Tess Daley and Ronnie Corbett.

Of the “hundreds” of people coming to retire Brucie, the Express picks a few. And the site is up and running:

* “I totally agree Bruce should retire,” viewer David Martin wrote on the show’s official message board yesterday. “Last night’s show brought it more towards the younger generation, the girls Tess and Claudia did extremely well – much more funkier and bright.”

* Another message posted by ‘grannygrump’ said: “I totally agree that Bruce has had his day. Perhaps this may be one of the reasons X Factor is romping ahead in the ratings? I cringe when he makes those predictable, embarrassing jokes.”

On the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing website, viewers are invited to:

Find out more in our News Story & send Brucie all your get well & best wishes here!

There are, at the time of writing – 176 messages. So not quite the Express’ hundreds. And those messages? From messages 161 to 176, we get these:

* Don’t know how you can say that Non -twinkletoes. The show is just not the same without our dear Bruce. Tess did her best but sorry Tess it just was’nt right without Bruce…

* Get well soon Bruce i really missed you on Saturday
XX

* Get well soon Bruce I did miss you. Some may moan at your jokes but for me they are just the right slice of light hearted humour to break up the intensity of the competition.

* sending wishes for a speady recovery to Brucie. Tess did a great job and i love Claudia anyway, she was great she should come more often. However, it was’nt the same without Bruce, he makes the show what it is-corney,flashy and so addictive to watch!! Get well soon!! X

* Missed you Bruce! Keep taking the vitamin C and we’ll see you next week!

* Dear Brucie,

We love you and we want you to get well soon and get back to the show. Not the same without you. xxxxx

This is not to say there are fans who don’t want Bruce back – of this random batch of missives three have negative comment on Forsyth.

* Get well soon Bruce, and enjoy retirement, but please stay away from the programme.

* Until Bruce was missing, I hadn’t realised what a miserable iron rod he rules the show with.

So to put the Daily Express’ front-page headline another way:

“TENS OF VIEWERS WANT BRUCE FORSYTH BACK – THREE TIMES MORE THAN WANT HIM TO RETIRE”

Read all about it in the “WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER”.
