Susan Boyle Weeps As The Press Set About Destroying Her
SUSAN Boyle Watch: On Monday, Susan Boyle sang her slow, churchy version of the Rolling Stones classic Wild Horses in Rockefeller Plaza (pictures). The happening was broadcast live to millions watching NBC’s Today show. And then…she cried.
On the Daily Mirror’s front page a question is delivered as a statement:
IS IT ALL TOO MUCH
The Express tells its readers:
SUSAN BOYLE BREAKS DOWN IN TEARS AFTER LIVE PERFORMANCE IN AMERICA
SUSAN Boyle showed she is still fragile as she broke down in tears after a live outdoor performance in America.
Don’t lots of singers cry? On the X Factor, everyone cries. But when Susan Boyle cries, she is “fragile”. The Star wonders:
PALS fear Susan Boyle is on the brink of another meltdown.
Nice of these so-called pals to share their fears with the tabloids. Only, the don’t. Not one of Susan’s pal says anything. But the tabloid story with Susan Boyle is one of victimhood. Susan Boyle must always be in a state of distress and confusion, even when she looks confident and is belting out a song before what TV people call a “live audience”.
The Star hears an “onlooker” say:
“You only hope, for her sake, that she can get through the next few days and weeks when she will be the focus of so much attention.”
But if she were to break down, the you can bet the Star and other tabloids will be there to watch the pieces scatter.
The Daily Mail looks on:
Is Stateside success turning into a nightmare for Susan Boyle? Singer breaks down on U.S. tour
The Mail has pictures of Boyle weeping a little.
It happened just moments after she was presented with a patchwork quilt knitted together by hundreds of people from 28 countries including the UK, US, Australia, Mexico, Japan and Antarctica.
The press presents Susan Boyle as “touched” by the hand of God, an ugly stick and stupidity – but she is touched only by the warmth of her fans. So she cries.
The press builds her up. And now it sets about tearing her down. Stage 3 of the Susan Boyle Story is upon us…

…Evil knows no bounds….the media do have bounds and they know that SuBo Sells! They are doing what they always do…constructing a story. Have no fear…SuBo is safe and if your love for her is true then she is blessed too…..as long as you are not a SuBo Stalker that is, Lynn?

Damn News Media! You’re all Evil and will do anything to make a buck and ruin a persons life!!! Hold your head up high Susan! You are beautiful!

I’m not a big fan of Susan’s music, but I will say that she has a great voice, and great courage. I think the tabloids need to mind there own business. Just let this lady be herself. Susan keep your head up high and keep up the great work!! GOD BLESS!!

I posted two replies on the Mail website, pointing out that the article was demonstrably untrue, especially as several eye witnesses had explained the circumstances. Guess what? Neither of my posts were published. Still, I’ve learned my lesson. Why read their fiction - there’s plenty of that in books.
Susan is not mentally ill. Mental illness is quite different from a learning disability and many of us have “blind spots” in our abilitiesbut that doesn’t make us mad or stupid.
Susan’s performance was magnificent. She has a wonderful way of connecting with her audience. I love her voice - some people don’t. That’s their right. I was never interested in Frank Sinatra, the Beatles and many others. But I never felt the need to criticise them.. Let’s allow each other a bit of space here, and especially the lovely, talented, sweet, gentle and RECORD BREAKING Susan Boyle, who is now what she wanted to be - a professional singer.Par excellence!!

How sites such as yours can knowingly publish such lies and seek to destroy the career of such a lovely woman is beyond me. I can’t believe you think the public is that stupid LOL. Instead of buying your lies we are out buying SusaCDs by the armloads. Oh and I am headed out to buy a red scarf.
Moderator - Maybe try reading what has been written, and then you can apologise

I was also at the Today show and the cafe after the Today show. I say AMEN and that is so right to everything Jennifer (above) says. I WAS THERE..there was no meltdown, or anything even close to that. All of the reports about her weeping uncontrolably etc are WRONG. After the 1 on 1 interview with a forum fan and the presentation of the quilt, Susan did tear up, but who wouldn’t at such an outpouring of love from so many people. She knows about her fans wearing red scarves and walks out to a sea of red scarves…knows that many women all over the world joined together to make her a love/friendship quilt, and flew from all over to see her..the quilt is beautiful and there is one for Pebbles too…any feeling, caring person would tear up at the realization of all this love…she was happy and cute and sharp with her precious cut-ups (including the thumb in the mouth to indicate baby steps..look at the smiling faces all around her in the full un-cut shot of that picture) All this about melt down/breakdown is rubbish, lies and and a vicious tabloid attack on a talented and innocent lady who only wants to sing..She has a fanatastic voice and deserves respect..NOT the lies that are reported with no attempt to find the facts..Shame, Shame, Shame, Shame, Shame………..

Donna T - send a picture of yourself to us and we can publish the facts. We need some evidence that it is you to expose the lie…

I am the woman to the left of Susan in the picture from the trash tabloid, Mail, as Susan holds her thumb to her mouth. The Mail refused to print my rebuttal to their vicious, deceptive, lying article on Susan. So, I will post it here. Susan was not sucking her thumb and staring out into space unable to cope. I certainly would not have sat there smiling at her if she had been. Sometimes a person will respond to a comment with a physical action such as waving instead of actually saying “goodbye.” This was the case here. A fan suggested to Susan that her “baby steps” have turned into a giant step for her career. Embarrassed by the compliment, Susan turned to humor to respond and placed her thumb to her mouth as in imitating a baby. In that instant, a photo was taken. As you can see in the picture, we all laughed. Susan uses physical humor to distract from the embarrassment she feels at being singled out for her achievements because she is a truly, humble woman. As far as the crying is concerned, Susan was reacting like any other woman in her situation. I was impressed with how restrained and controlled she was since many of the women watching were crying outright. Susan should be expected to cry tears of joy when presented with gifts of love and admiration of such magnitude that took place at that luncheon. Bottom line: Don’t believe tabloids. They deceive. They flat-out lie.

Thank you for a factual and positive article about Susan Boyle. You are the exception that proves the rule that most tabloids are too lazy and inept to even try to find the truth, much less print it.
Good on you!!

Chris
the Media has long had the sadistic streak of building people up, placing them on a pedestal and then stoning them for having (ordinary) feet of clay.
When you look at the behaviour of many ‘celebs’ SuBo does seem to have enormous reserves of control, and hopefully SHE is playing the media at its own game.
She also does have a real talent, which many don’t

Chris - because they enjoy people suffering?

The Daily Mail KNOWS better and is trying to ruin Susan Boyle. Look at the two pictures here of the supposed thumb sucking.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1231042/Susan-Boyle-emotional-break-U-S-tour.html
In the uncropped picture, you can see people laughing. Susan was joking around because someone had used the phrase “baby steps”, a favorite of hers. People laughed. She was not upset about anything.
In a later Mail article, they have cropped out the most obvious of the laughing fans. Why do that unless they are trying to distort the truth?

Susan is adorable. I love her for who she is. I enjoyed watching the video of her with her fans because I saw in her that she loves her fans as much as they love her. Thank you Susan for being nice to your fans. You are truly an inspiration.

It is a sign of SuBo’s success in the States…..you are not a Star until you have your own stalkers…and so it is no surprise that the “SuBo Stalkers” are born..

I bought Susan’s cd and I think it is awesome! At first I thought it was a little slow and quiet but after listening to it in some places her songs are torchy, in some just angelically beautiful. I love it! She could sing the veggie tale song and it would be beautiful. I wish the press would get a life somewhere else.

Of course the media will try, once again, to destroy Susan, just as they did during BGT.
Obviously the bookies were behind a lot of that, including the so called journalists outside of her London hotel.
It worked though, the ignorant public bought all of it. I feel sorry for people that buy, read and believe all that garbage. They can’t think for themselves.
Susan never did anything to deserve the treatment she gets. It just proves to me that she’s a VERY strong woman to be able to keep going.
I admire her so much.

I am a fan of susan boyle. i went to new york to welcome her. i was at the airport to greet her. i was at the Today show concert to enjoy hearing and seeing her perform. i was at the cafe right next to her and heard and saw her during the time there. I can say this. Susan Boyle is quite a performer. She is a natural entertainer. She is kind to her fans who adore her. she gives her heart and soul into her performance and she gave her fans her full attention after her wonderful concert. She was patient with her fans who wanted to expres their admiration for her .She may have beeen tired after putting out such a performance and an interview for the show. I was exhausted from standing for hours on the plaza and i wasn’t even on alert for performing and responding to the world. Being tired is no way a breakdown-you reporters are weird in your comments here. And the fans had no worry over susan’s responses- they adore her and were tickled to death with her light hearted acting in response to their presentation or the quilt and gifts and a story mentioning Piersey baby to which susan spontaneously performed her wiggle that she had vowed not to ever perform again and her acting like a baby in response to other remarks made by fans- Susan was acting- she is an entertainer and she knows how to act with a quick wit. When Susan showed appreciation for the kind words of her fans, she showed she was touched by dabbing at her eyes a bit and hugging a fan. How much even more endeared are her fans for her show of feelings! Boy is she full of personality! Did you see her spin the red scarf about shouting”Shimmy, shimmy!” And did you hear her during her warm-up while being given a sip after singing” early for getting loaded, don’t you think?”(n She is a card!) And did you hear her whoopee to entertain her crowd ?? She workd her audienc and they love her. You reporters ned to pay attention and get thefacts .
Moderator - hope you sent that epistle to all the UK Media?

It was a particularly noble gesture by the people of Antarctica who can’t have all that much wool to spare. It makes me weep too.

Exactly right! Susan was very touched by the quilt from her most devoted fans and so shed a few tears of joy. There was also a small quilt for Pebbles. Who wouldn’t be moved by such a tangible outpouring of total adoration from so many people? Susan is happy now, she has achieved her dream of becoming a professional singer, she has millions of global fans who totally support and love her. In addition, her debut album is hauntingly beautiful and its sales will continue to climb.
The trash press needs to back off and let Susan enjoy her success - she has earned it and she deserves it. Susan Boyle is magnificent.
